    [Movie] The Abandonned Raid : The Abyssal Maw

    Hello fellow explorers !

    In this short movie, I will show you what The Abyssal Maw looks like.
    Remember, Abyssal Maw was the raid that was supposed to be released with patch 4.1 before it was cancelled and replaced with Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman.

    A few months ago I was surprised when I found that the map was in the game files and after managing to visit it (this is a very complex exploration, harder than Development in my opinion ) I filmed some plans.

    I originally planned to release those plans in my upcoming exploration movie, Wanderings of an Essplorer (you can find the teaser here), but due to some circonstances I have the chance to release them now, so I went back to the instance a few days ago and I filmed more plans.

    This was filmed on LIVE server, EU-Ysondre, during patch 4.2.2 and 4.3.2.
    Soundtrack is Thomas Bergersen - Immortal.
    Enjoy

    PS : It's better to watch this in 1080p full screen
    PS² : I know that this question will be asked, so I'll answer to it now : I will not say how I went there, nor will I release a MPQ. So don't ask.

    Very cool, I am guessing this instance was supposed to be the 2nd portal in the Thorne of the Tides area after you get sucked down into the vortex?

    @Freefall552 : Blizzard uses those naked models as a scale (the model's name is Humanscale).

    @Teryaki2 : Absolutely

    Looks really nice and I appreciate the fact you decided to make a video about it.
    The ground shaping looks like it has been worked on, but for the rest (texture
    work, model placement) it really looks like a placeholder. Just like the alpha version
    of Outland was like.

    Too bad this didn't get release although now it's more fun for us explorers.

    I hate this abandoned content, because I love to see it. This is as awesome as the old karazhan or closed instances like the complete scarlet monastery or the second prison of stormwind.

    Really great place, I would love to explore this on live realms, but working with MPQs and developement files isn't something I can do very good. Anyway, your video is really amazing!

    Only 4 minutes for something you won't release because of your gigantic egoism ? (we can't possibly put our hands on the files, so it's not a matter of hard working to go there, it's just pure egoism)
    So much spoiled content..
    Also, what's the point of saying you did this on live server ? It's model edit and model swapping, it's not like we have any chance of reaching this place on live server without the mpq.

    Yep, i'm really bitter and i can't say thanks for not sharing this with us.

    You're basically showing this to say "Hey, take that ****ers, see what i can do and you can't ?".
    I know you don't care about rep because you're not like us. You're not here to share, you're here to showoff and throw at our faces how good you are. So i won't give you rep because i fully disagree with your attitude.
    If you want me to say it : yes, you're better than me in model edit. Gratz for you. Are you happy now ?

    I'm just glad everybody here doesn't do like you and share.

    You went there during patch 4.2.2 ? Well why won't you share this one ? We could atleast be able to go there on private server and it can't possibly harms your model edit for 4.3.2.

    P.S : i'm not saying this exploration sucks, it is awesomely great. Just saying i hate the guy behind this for all he does that hurt the exploration community.

    Thank you for sharing this video with our community, Feangren aka Spoutnik.

    When I first discovered your work (and the work of MoD, RIdPEF, and those with a similar mindset) I was always frustrated that you wouldn't explain your methods or release files that you have worked on. I now feel that I have a better understanding of your philosophies, so I am now more appreciative when you choose to share your work with this community.

    Videos like this can be inspiring. They remind me that you have put in the work to figure out various methods of picking apart the WoW game files... and that I could start doing the same today if I so choose. Perhaps that time draws near...

    Really nice space shown here, thanks for doing the video. +4 rep for your effort. I look forward to your future adventures.

    Your explorations are amazing but you never help Ownedcore's community.
    Many many explorers used tech find on this forums, you too for sure.
    But you don't give anything in return. Just "See what I do".

    I thank you for the work about your video, it's famous.
    But you react like a fat man with burger in his hand who say to an hungry man "See, it's so good but I don't give you any piece of it!"

    Nevertheless, great vid, thank you for sharing.

    @BaddyMcBad/NanaCry Grow up just because they because they don't want to release the .MPQ doesn't make them have an ego I agree with what they are doing.

    Other than that great video. I found this map awhile ago but ran into a lot of issues.(I was using the OLD Evermorph to switch my current map ID to that one but just never worked out the death zone was always way to far up)

    @Snyth : Yes, the height of the death zone is the problem with this map. Or I should say that what is to be seen is too low :P

    @Trokair : <3

    @Xel & Bareno & Malfurion & Kasapin : Thanks

    @Baddy : Yes, you are right, I have no clue why, but there is a skywall under the terrain ^^

    @NanaCry & Baddy & Ekibix : Ooookkaaayyy, lots of hate here. Let's answer like a gentleman, shall we ?

    As I told you on the shoutbox NanaCry, everyone can have the map, and it has gotten easier with 4.3.2 and the optimisation. Before that patch, you had to get the entire map by opening multiples MPQ with MPQ Editor to have a unique map, because there was bits of the map on nearly every patch since the beginning of Cataclysm to build 13914 (which is 4.1.0 if I remember well). Those bits of maps are unusable, because only a small portion of the map is updated. It doesn't work like LK (or before) where when there was an update to an ADT, the whole ADT was in the patch. Now, only a small unusable portion is in the patch and you have to, as I said, open multiple mpqs at once to get the entire map.
    So, now it's extremely easy to get the map.

    As for the hard part, if I told you that to avoid the death zone, I had to manually hex-edit (because there are no tools to do this in Cataclysm) all of the terrain adts to tweak the chunk affecting the camera effect, would you have been pleased ?

    Now, I might already have said that on other thread, but I don't want to spoonfeed. If I throw a ready-to-use MPQ for Abyssal Maw or Development, you don't understant how I got it working. And this is the exact opposite of what I want to. I will quote Trokair, who perfectly got the interest of the video :
    Videos like this can be inspiring. They remind me that you have put in the work to figure out various methods of picking apart the WoW game files... and that I could start doing the same today if I so choose.
    However, if you want a good start to understand things, I'll gladly advise you to visit the Wiki. It contains all you need to know about the files and how they work.
