To be clear, it doesn't transmog the item to random stuff. Each illusion has certain weapons it transmogs to, dancing steel changes to vanilla glaives. (Each illusion is vanilla items.)

Any idea if a list of the illusions - weapons exist?

This was already discovered by Ferib months ago and further researched by other people like Dr Hearthstone Techno Boy on youtube who seems to have gotten the warglaives months ago.
A person called Ashoran also discovered a way how to permanently save the appearances after relogging (without using DC macro). The only weapon appearance that can't be saved are the "Monster" weapons like warglaives or GM mace.
I will have to be very honest at this point. Since there is pretty much no more credit for you to claim on this matter, it's advisable to take the thread down till a way is found to save the "Monster" weapons permanently. Or else it'll just get fixed by Blizzard by bringing this back up to their attention, and no one will gain anything.

I'll be resubbing to wow soon, so I'll try my best to find a way to save the warglaives/GM mace appearances permanently. Have a few ideas that might work hopefully.

I'm apparently an idiot, because I spent 7k gold trying to get this to work. I don't normally transmog my weapons since I like all the Balance of Power artifact skins, but I wanted the chance to have a silly appearance if only for a day. I followed the opening post to the T;
1) Have transmogged weapon with transmogged enchant
2) All Spec > Remove Weapon Transmog > Apply
3) Current Spec > Add Weapon Transmog > Apply
4) Change Spec
In my case, I used my Warrior, going between Arms and Fury, Rogue going between Outlaw and Assassination, and Druid going between Resto and Guardian. It just won't work, no matter what weapon/enchant combo I try. When removing the transmog and not illusion, it places a circle over the enchant icon denoting that the weapon cannot be given enchants. The enchant does stay when transmogging to another item, but it is gone with the untransmogged artifact weapon. Is there some step that isn't posted that I somehow missed, or does this not work for artifact weapons?

1. Main Spec - All Spec > add illusion and any weapon transmog
2. Off Spec - Current Spec > Revert weapon transmog
3. Change back to main spec
It's quite simple actually.

Really looking forward to this because there are so many people coming up with the warglaive appearance thereby resurfacing this glitch to Blizzard's attention.

You can make the mog permanent by making use of the "Garrison Ilusions"

Doesn't work for glaives though, which is the most important appearance
