Easier rogue challenge versus Archmage

You know the challenge that makes you escape out of ice? I found that to be the most difficult part of encounter - HOWEVER, you can use the Archmage Vargoth's spare staff inside, and shadowstep to it. So if you place his effigy somewhere near yourself, you can shadowstep to it instantly as soon as he spawns blizzard, pretty much negating this whole mechanic.
