theres a new method to do it kinda like the same except you just need to spam apply while you switch back to your wep

This doesn't work for me, maybe it got fixed? I tried multiple times and I hear the transmog sound after my bow is equipped, however it still doesn't show on the bow and is not listed on the item. I tried it with this macro, but stilll no success:

New way : Make macro to equip your artifact gun/bow and click it as the same time as you click apply . Then transmog your artifact gun/bow to any gun/bow that support illusions and enjoy

can confirm still working on US. currently have a green glowing mark-s boomstick. equip a low level trash weapon or something, choose illusion of your choice, spam an equipslot macro as you are clicking apply. it may take a couple of tries, but you should see your character wielding the default artifact appearance in the transmog window. transmog back to the weapon you wanted to add the illusion to and it will appear.

Still works on EU.

1. Macro /Equip (weapon name)
2. Equip cheap pole arm
3. Select the enchant but do NOT apply
4. The tricky part, pay attention. You need to use the equip at almost the exact same time as selecting the apply to apply the enchant, too early and it doesn't work, too late it wont work either. Do NOT hit apply before the equip or it won't work.
5. Hit the equip macro and with the slightest of delay, hit the apply macro. If successful you will hear a "ching" like noise to say that it's worked like a normal enchant.
6. Select one of the mentioned guns to tmog
7. Hit apply.

Done.

Not sure if it works now but you could do this all during Legion and the weapon I used was the wolf slayer sniper rifle, it accepted all illusions. Hope this helps.

I was able to apply the illusion on a BoA gun but it doesnt seem to make them visible tho :/

Above trick with the macro works for me. It seems like not all weapons work with the illusions. I went through all the appearances I have and found "Pirate Chief's Speargun" to work (Crossbow).

Look like they fix some of the old gun/cross bow model that work with illusions . I checked everything i has but only found 2 that work : Honorable Combatant's Stormsteed Destroyer and green BFA crossbow model

It still works in BfA 8.1.5 with the Alliance crossbow BfA model, the rest are fixed, sad.
