hmmm I'm going to actually try this! I've wanted my rogue twink transfered to pvp with my friends but I wanted to stay on current realm to pvp with some other friends too! A chara dupe should be sufficient lol, sounds like you have it pretty worked out too - great guide + REP

I did this a while ago. Was gonna keep it quiet because I figured if blizz ever found out they would track and ban all the accounts that did this.

By the way, if your into selling accounts, do this and follow up with an account transfer. Then just auction of your duplicated account and move on. Made $800 on a Warlock I duped back when hitting 70 was big news.

Why changing name BEFORE trasnfer? Just trasnfer on a server in wich you created a lvl 1 with the same name, or not?

Im going to try this before next maintanance. Wondering a few things. Firstly anyone tried this recently and did they use a lvl 70 or lower? Also if anyone tried and got caught what were the consequinces?

Yes, it was fully written by me. No, you won't find this Guide anywhere else on the internet - it was all mine and mine alone.

I've posted guides on e*PVPers, but not this one.

I've also been using this process for quite a while, and I know for a fact that this hasn't been posted on any other sites for a solid year. Can you link it please?

I did a new search today, found my guide posted on:

However, as I stated - I've been searching for this ever since Character Transfers came out and although it's probably common knowledge to secret groups, it's never been posted before. I would guess that there are thousands (if not tens-of-thousands) of accounts across many domains that are duplicated. It's pretty easy.

You can do it at 70 as well, but it will slightly increase your chance that the GM might notice. If you're caught, you can typically get out of it by saying, "Ohhh.. crap. I forgot I transferred that character, I swore my brother/sister/whatever deleted my character."

Or maybe that there was a bug with your install, and you didn't see the transferred character on the new server (all characters invisible). After reinstalling, you could see the character(s) on the new server.

There are a few ways to get out of it. Not sure now that this is common knowledge, though.

i once tried this to get a toon of my renamed on a pristine good behaviour account, however the GM on my pvp us server informed me that things such as named after a business affiliation or anything similar.. those ruules were not being enforced on our server. Perhaps its only more strict for RP servers, but the GM then threatened that trying to force your own name change was a manipulation of the GM ticket service and could potentially end in a short term suspension in the future.
