Killing Thok the Bloodthirsty without kiting

NOTE: this was apparently hotfixed yesterday. Sorry, everyone!

At the end of a bad pull on normal 10 man Thok the Bloodthirsty tonight, one of our team members attempted to die by running up directly underneath Thok so the boss would attack him. However, Thok didn't kill him; he just stood there trying.

So we tried a new strategy during our next few pulls until we finally got it right. The whole raid except for one tank stacked up directly underneath the boss as soon as he gained Blood Frenzy and burned the boss while the tank killed the add. Thok would focus on people who were stacked under him, but never moved and never damaged us with his frontal cleave. On the pull where we killed him, we got him down to 56% by the end of the first round of stacking under him. The tank then moved him across the room where the next guys spawned, and we all followed and stacked under Thok again. We killed him the 2nd time we stacked, so the duration of the fight was only 6 minutes.

It was pretty awesome lol. I have the whole thing on video, but my team is worried about getting banned so I'm only posting these screenshots from the video.

I'm a slight bit puzzeled by the way you used this exploit. Why didn't you simply nuke him to death during the very first Blood Frenzy phase instead of actually opening the cage?

Our normal raid group kills Thok in about 5 min 30 sec using the normal approach, I don't understand how your group can spend more time if your able to cheese the living **** out of the entire bossfight by locking him into one phase where he does no damage to anyone.

Give us a short clip of the actual fixation+stacking in front of him if you want any reputation or credibility, what you are explaining seems thin at best.

Yea, it seems strange, why open a cage at all.... if you didn't have to kite, their was no reason to reset his stacking speed increase.

Think I understand it, I'll be doing him tomorrow. This would be huge for those working on Heroic and yea I agree this would be well placed in elite if the poster so wishes.

I'm not sure how to explain it in more detail with posting the incriminating video, sorry! Are the screenshots appearing yet? I really think it would be the best clarification if you could see that. If you can see the minimap, there's only one dot off to the side, and that's our tank. Everybody else is stacked as tightly as we could manage. As for an explanation of why we couldn't down the boss faster or handle it differently, all I can say is it was our first night trying the boss and our team isn't as skilled or geared as other teams, so maybe it's a L2play thing. Lol. I'm at work typing on my phone again btw.

Oh and if you want to move it to Elite, that's fine.
