Need help getting started
Hello everyone! I'm looking to get back into server
emulation. It's been years since I worked with
it. I used to run an arc emu server.
What I want to know is, what core would be best
for a customize-able server to eventually host, and what tools do I need to get what I need done. I'm not looking for
easy just because I'm new, I want to learn everything I possibly can
to customize my own server. including modded zones, custom weapons.
retro porting weapons from legion, races and classes like the worgen
and goblins and maybe eventually a custom demon hunter class, as well as
100 percent from scratch scripted bosses. I know lua and a little c++
but this is something I'm willing to put a lot of my time and effort into
not just because I want to host a server, but because I want to learn
a lot of the backend server handling and such. Plus last time I got into
it, it was LOADS of fun to learn. I have a group of friends wanting in
on it is as well.
Could you guys on here lead me in the right direction to get my started?
I was thinking trinity core or azeroth core.
also would you guys be able to shoot me some links on
learning how to do some of this stuff and understanding how it works?
I've been searching all over the place trying to learn how to
create the worgen and goblin races in a 3.5.5 server. Thank you guys very much
and I know I'm a scrub but hey, got to start somewhere

I'm no expert (not even close), so I can't help you with setting up a server but it seems like you got the guts and attitude to make it work
Fingers crossed you get someone competent to help you get started. Good luck on getting help and your project!

I am new to emulators, good luck on your plans. I can only help a little by telling how I started with my server: I downloaded a repack and learned SQL for NPC/Items/Quests etc, you need program like HeidiSQL for this. If you want to make custom spells/item sets/races etc you will have to get .dbc editor. Same for models, you will need a program to modify or add models to your database.
Basically get tools and start from small things like SQL to harder like model editing. Good luck once again!
