Confused about area names server side. menu

    Confused about area names server side.

    I recently learned that area names and locations are not saved in the DBC files but the ADT reffers to the DBC files for the zone name and info.
    But how would this work Server Side? for example How does it know which ADT's have which area ID?

    Is it saved in "maps"? If so then how can I get custom ADT's New ones to extract with the right area ID?

    Yes, I do believe the server gets his information from those maps file. Together with the DBCs of course.

    You could try viewing the ADT with Taliis. A shame that the tool is no longer under development, though.

    Yeah but people who don't have a maps folder still have a server, how would that work

    If we don't have the maps the server thinks the zone has id 0. The client doesn't care about this.

    In short: The client does the X,Y,Z to Zone by it self.
