Status of Private server

Hey guys i am wondering if it's possible to check the status of a wow Private server (If the server is online or offline ).


I tried pinging the realm list address but i figured that'd point to the login server rather then the realm.
Any tips would be great !

I saw an android wow app (that works with p.servers) recently here on ownedcore. It's possible.
