Meet BetterBot - a new advanced bot & tool for legacy WoW

I'm new on the scene here, but joined Ownedcore today to present a demo version of something long long in the making. Betterbot (Betterbot.org) is a new WoW botting and hacking tool kit for creating extremely efficient bots. Our current iteration offers robust pathfinding, combat digest cycles, wallhack, scriptshop, movement & combat entropy, a cutting edge UI and configuration panel, memory inspector, and other debug tools! Be sure to watch our video.

Today my goal was just to make an announcement, but more detailed info will follow in the coming weeks. We're planning for a full launch in ~3 months. The ultimate goal is to build an RSBot-like community for legacy WoW.




Right now we're running a closed alpha, but if you join us on our forum (forum.betterbot.org) and introduce yourself we may consider you as a beta participant. This is part of an initiative to get our forums active. If you're interested in BetterBot the best way to help out for the time being is to join in on the discussion there.

I consider legacy to be vanilla, tBC, Wrath. BetterBot supports each of those game versions.

Haha, we increased the line thickness for the video to an extreme level so it is noticeable when viewing at a low resolution. In game the lines are extremely thin and opaque and do not deter the user from using BetterBot while playing. This is all user configurable.

Two threads popped up for this because I wasn't sure if the other one was getting approved in the sub forum. It was mentioned there that this is an off-site download so I responded with some reasons we believe should make BetterBot trustworthy. I'll re-post them here so everyone can see.

This is defiantly a legit concern for our founding customers. We have no reputation yet so every thing I say at this point is really just words. I should mention that BetterBot won't be available to the public for around 3 months.

I personally am the type of person to be super skeptical of random software, and have a purist attitude with what I install, especially with closed source applications (BetterBot's core is closed source, our API for bot scripting is open source). Here are some reasons I can give you that would influence my ability to trust and consider BetterBot.

1. BetterBot costs money and is public with it's business model. We charge $9/mo for normal users and $5/mo per client starting at 20 clients for bulk purchasers.

2. We offer a checkbox consent form for all telemetry and user data sent from the app. Some data is required to be sent to our servers like path-finding information but the user is still required to consent.

3. The team behind BetterBot (Orea, and Grimmfang) have stellar reputations and will never defy our principals. No one develops a complicated hack like this with the primary goal of making money, we do it for fun, and in the spirit of learning. Once again this is just our word, but it's worth mentioning. I've been speaking out about Elysium's scummy security practices since before their launch.

4. I am a long standing member of the Free Software Foundation and GNU project and care deeply about computer users freedom and privacy. You can find my credentials at the fsf.org member page. (You may wonder why an FSF member is creating closed source software so I may as well state my position. I believe deeply that open-source software is the only solution to security, the spirit of education, and giving the user freedom to control and modify programs as they wish. But in some circumstances it is necessary to keep a program non-libre, for example in a situation where releasing the source code could make it easy for a private server to close exploits we use to interact with the game.)

5. This one may be a little bit silly but it's worth mentioning: we put an ass-load of effort into making our software bug free, and our UIs beautiful and easy to use while removing unnecessary configuration steps. Just look at our website, it's art.

Oh really, now?

Yes this is a lofty thing to state, but we're confident our methods go above and far beyond what any other current day cheats use to avoid detection. Avoiding anti-cheat is one thing, being watched by a human is another of course. More information will come in the future about how BetterBot avoids detection.

How does BetterBot handle human interactions?
BetterBot supports AFK botting and offers user a wide selection of options for dealing with real players while doing so.

1. BetterBot will forward PMs, local say text, and name mentions in all channels to the users phone number if configured. They can text the bot back to post a message into the game while away from their computer.

2. BetterBot can respond in Chinese to look like a foreign player if configured.

3. You can setup a list of automated replies and select how frequently to post them in response to others if configured.

It's not a DX hook, it renders using opengl, and since the bot does ZERO memory writes/injection/dll hooks/etc, it's entirely self contained. This is also one of the main reasons why BetterBot is not detectable by warden on any server. This is important since we will be supporting all servers for multiple expansions (up to/including lich king) without needing to worry about warden at all.

You might think that limits the bot to only 1 copy per PC since it needs to take control of your keyboard/mouse but we have a solution for that also. I've run many instances of wow/the bot concurrently on my PC while coding, it's not an issue.

I'm keeping eye on this as when it goes to stable versions. But your forums? The amount of shitposting about elysium, makes betterbot look like a side project. If you want to be taken serious, clean yourself up.

I'm glad you're interested in the project, but facts are not shitposts. Not in one instance have I editorialized any of the information about Elysium. I verbatim copied it from their own press announcements or released a verbatim leak from the community..

Just curious, how are you drawing lines with opengl without doing any injection/dll hooks?

Also have you found that emulating the mouse+keyboard in the way you are doing it causes lag along with the drawing of the lines in opengl? Just wondering about the performance of running 5+ clients on one pc for example.
