Aproximately how many people could this hold.

Hey well my parents are getting me a pretty sweet computer if I do well in my mid year exams, I am just wondering how many people it could hold on a server ( Im guessing 10k+ but I want a actual estimate )

    The specs of it are:

    1 TB Hardrive
    Quad core processor 16GHZ total
16 GB ram/ 25 GB ram If I get 100% in any exam
100mbp/s upload and download internet speed.

And the good thing is it's only costing $2500 NZ because my dad is buying it through his work.

Aproximately how many people could this hold.

haha, this is actually kinda funny.

Alright, first off; whats the operating system on it?

    1) Windows? 32 bit or 64 bit?
    2) linux?
    3) Mac?

Off the bat your massive TB hard drive is 100% useless for a server for WoW.

I also assume your 16 GHZ is just 8x2 GHZ (the standard for this configuration) which means your computer will start up really fast and nicely reboot your server.

RAM is the key to any awesome server for hosting people, as is the connection.
Now, 16-25 gigs ram. Good luck, honestly.

    Why?
    1) Windows 32bit == This OS only allows for a total of 3 gigs recognized RAM. Don't ask why, that is just how windows 32 bit works. (32 bit is standard home PCs, XP, Vista, shit like that)
    2) Windows 64 bit == This OS is the windows platform for servers. Sad thing, it is nothing like the windows you are used to. Not to mention, it wont run your server, or WoW. But, this system will allow for up to I believe 8 gigs ram. But, still 8 useless gigs because your server won't work.
3)Linux == Yay, this is awesome. Have fun setting up your server in Debian!
    4) Mac == Yay, haha. Good luck setting up your server in Leopard.

Your 'server' is overkill. Not even that, it's like Bringing a gattling gun to mow down an army of bullet proof mobs. Your system wont even run WoW, or the server. 0 people.

Get a standard 2.0ghz with 2gigs ram on a duo core, save your self 1800$.

People don't understand why their slow ass computer at home with 4gigs ram is slower than their friends comp with 2 gigs ram. Why? Windows (what we all use; don't give me that 'oh i play on super awesome windows 64 bit. You don't, your a liar; your 63 bit platform cant even run exe files) can only see 3 gigs, so it takes your 4 gigs, drops it to 3 gigs. Now depending on your configuration with RAM (2 Bays, 2 gigs each, 1 bay at 4gigs, or 4 bays with 1gig each) windows significantly reduces the resources.

It can only read and write to multi/dual RAM IF THEY ARE THE SAME SIZE. 2 gigs + 2 gigs = 3 gigs. But, at least it will write to both at an equal 1.5gig Ram Speed.
If you have 1 gig and 2 gig it will write at 1.5 speed. Why? First it will write to the 1gig, then stop, and write to the 2 gig, then stop, and write to the 1 gig and so on and so forth.
