    How do you find the MapID?

    I've recently started working on WoW memory reading and i've been able to locate pointers to the player struc ( I know, easy stuff for most of you but a milestone for me).

    Anyways, I'm trying to find either the pointer to or the static address of the MapID Offset. I know for a fact (Thanks to posts by Cypher et al) that in 2.4.3 (current / Live version), the MapID is located at 0x00E18DB4. I would simply like to know which techniques they used to find this. Thanks in advance.

    with cheatengine, just go to the orgrimmar instance or some other instance find the mapid for the Instance then walk in search for the Id (4 bytes) then walk out search for the mapid for Azeroth/Kalimdor/Outlands repeat until u only got 1 adress left
    :wave:

    Its stored inside WoWs object manager.

    #define CGCurMgr_C__GetMapID
    0x00469E20
    #define CGCurMgr_C__SetMapID 0x00469E50

    Those are members of the object manager class that get and set the map id respectively.

    You can either call those directly, or look inside the functions to see which data member they're using and then use TLS to get a pointer to the object manager and access the member directly.
