This is a general boting guide that applies to 90% of boters.
1. Always try a bot with 10 day trial account first (not possible with fishing bots or BG bots, if anyone has any idea how to test those on trial accounts please let me know)
2. Follow bot author's best practices. If the instruction is to launch WOW with the bot, don't be a smart ass by laucnhing WOW yourself and think it works just fine.
3. If you can't follow instructions or can't make it work, don't use the bot. Just too much risk.
4. Avoid public profiles. Just not worth the risk.
5. Farm with casters. Casters usually has higher dps and smaller risk of getting stuck when pulling mob. Magi are the best because they can make water/food for faster recovery.
6. Avoid populated areas and quest items (no need to explain this)
7. don't afraid to travel. Travlers find the best spots.
General bot types:
1. non-injection bots. Examples are Glider, zoloFighter. Those bots reads WOW's memory and send key strokes to WOW by emulate your computer's normal input path. So when you are boting, you can't use your computer any more (constant key presses).
2. Injected bots. InnerSpace and Glider Elite are the examples. Those bots inject themselfs into WOW's memory space, and send key strokes by directly telling WOW "here is a key". You can bot several WOW instances and you can still use your computer for other things. Also there won't be key misses either like the non-injected bots. The main downside for this approach is security. The author has to patch all the holes of WOW detection. Examples will be, when you minimize WOW, the bot is still sending keys, and the author has to make sure Get WindowState function still shows window is not minimized. The author also must fool WOW by showing the hardware state of keyboard is insync with their version, just a lot of holes to patch. But because so many people are using them and no bans, I will say both above bots are very safe to use.
Bot cost:
Cost various, from $25 a shoot, monthly, donations to free. Usually the cheaper the bot, the harder to setup :-)
Post note:
Is glider a injected bot or not? background bot usually means injection, but I read other posts say glider is not injected.
