WinLag v1.0
Description:
Since I released iLag for Mac a couple of days ago, the requests for a Windows version have been flooding in, so I decided to make it .
WinLag works on the same principle as iLag but with a few key differences and added features that I am sure you Windows users will appreciate.
I don't think there is any need to repeat myself when it comes to explaining the concept of Lag exploiting so i will just redirect you to the iLag thread if you want to know exactly what Lag exploiting can do: iLag and the Lag exploit concept .
In this thread I will give you a quick explanation of how Blizzard tries to stop you from Lag exploiting and why its so important to use the new "D/C Protect" feature in WinLag, of course I will be providing you with a download link to WinLag v1.0 and a quick guide on how to use it as well.
First, lets see what defense Blizzard has against Lag exploiters.
Blizzard has put in place limits and time windows which both work together in order to protect themselves against Lag exploiters.
The first line of defense that Blizzard has is the Latency calculator, I'm sure you've all seen it (its that little bar which is either Green, Yellow, or Red on your user interface), and I am also pretty sure that at least once in your WoW playing career you must have got disconnected from WoW because the Latency (lag) was too high, well you get disconnected because your latency calculator stayed in the red and above the 5000ms mark for too long.
Which brings us to Blizzards second line of defense against Lag exploiters.
The second line is based on 30 seconds long time windows which the WoW players must respect in order to not get disconnected for the servers, now in case this sounds a little complicated, I drew a simple diagram which should make things clear:
Here ^^ you can see that if your latency stays below 5000ms and you make an appearance on the servers at least once every 30 seconds, then you will not get disconnected (and yeah, i know that my drawing skills aren't the best).
Here ^^ you can see what happens when a Lag jump is extended for too long, the latency level not only goes up real high very quick, but the server also kicks you out for missing a time window (this is the kind of thing which can give you a temp ban if it happens to much in battlegrounds).
This is why i decided to add a safety feature in WinLag, the "D/C Protection" feature is designed and fine tuned to work in sync with the two Blizzard safety filters, so "D/C Protection" can stop you from over Lagging, thus keeping you under a certain latency level and also keeping you within those all important time windows.
There is however one thing which I chose not to port from iLag to WinLag, and thats the bandwidth throttling (after a lot of testing i found out that it was useless and I will remove it from iLag in v1.1).
WinLag also has a very neat little feature which allows you to choose precisely how long you want the Lag jump to be, the time frame can range from 5 to 25 seconds (I didn't program it to go above 25 seconds for the same reasons that i stated above).
WinLag also has sound alerts which can be switched on or off (its something iLag doesn't have yet).
The sounds are not annoying or anything like that, they are merely discrete beeps which tell you that your Lag jump has started, your lag jump has ended, and also a beep which tells you that its safe to do a Lag jump again.
WinLag also has Hotkeys for quick Lag jumping that may be needed in PvP situations or any other sticky situations which need a little Lag exploiting to get out of.
So without further adue, here are some screenshots of the virus scans and the application itself, shortly followed by the download links.

I have no idea why there is a false positive there ^^ but its there somehow.
