[Guide] Setting up a Norwegian 4.0 Server

Hi People, :wave:

In this Guide i'm going to explain how to make yourself a Norwegian Funserver!

A. Installing + Configuring MySQL

1. Open MySQL and check Typical and press Next.

2. Press install and check Configure Now and press Finish.

3. Choose for Standard Configuration and click Next.

4. Check Install as Windows Service and at Service Name type: "root" (this make it easier at the end so you can copy paste everything =D)

5. Type: ascent at the password field.


Congratulations you've just installed MySQL one of the most important programs for running a Server always start this up or you can't acces your DB and start up your server.


B. Installing + Configuring Navicat

1. Start up the installation of Navicat and press next till you've installed it.

2. Go to "File" and then to "New Conection"

Connection name: Server
User: root
pass: ascent

4. Press Ok


C. Installing you're DataBase

1. Right Click your Connection called "Server" and press New Database call it Ascent.

2. Right Click your new made Database and press Execute Batchfile...

3. At the file part press the "..." and search for "norwegianelite40.sql" and press it.

4. Press Start and you're DataBase will be made this could take a few minutes depending on how fast your computer is. (note: Doing nothing make the process faster.)

Congratulations You've just installed you're very own DB the heart of your server.


D. Configuring you're Server.

1. Go to Ascent 2.8 Stable located in the map of your Server.

2. And replace the following files out of the rar file: ascent.conf, logonserver.conf and realms.conf

Congratulations you've just Configured you're Server.

8. Start up Logonserver.exe and Ascent.exe. If you get a error make sure you're MySQL is on.

9. Now go to your WoW map and open up realmlist.wtf and copy paste this

set realmlist 127.0.0.1
set patchlist 127.0.0.1

10. Start up WoW and log on with

Username: admin
Password: admin

E. Make a Homepage

Everything works with logonserver and ascent but when I am trying to log in to WoW it says [ Unable to connect ]

Any Idea?

politz: are you connecting from same computer as server are on, or a different computer?

cause if you shall log on from another computer,
you must change ip at bottom of realm.list
to your computer ip, and not 127.0.0.1,
cause thats an internal ip that every computer has.
if you or other tryes log on your server with 127.0.0.1
they only connects theyr self.

then you need to put your isp ip there,
and in the realmlists

I need some Help!

Everything works with logonserver and ascent but when I am trying to log in to WoW it says [ Unable to connect ]

Any Idea?

2 things
1, are u sure ur realmlist is set correctly?
2, are u getting any error messages or ascent or longonserver crashing after u launch it

if you are getting an error message u probobly entered in a wrong mysql password or username
that will also cause the crashing of the ascent and longon servers. depending on what one is getting an error or crashing is the config file u should change. and if it STILL DOESNT WORK! i have no idea what to do =p

I need help plz ... When i start the logonserv and ascent, it just say after a while "authenticating.. " "Authentication failed" in the ascent.exe... and almost the same in the logonserver.exe . PLZ help me !

make sure that the remote passwords are both the same look it up in the conf files...

OK, I got it to run, Logon server and ascent, but when I login and make a character it puts me back at the character select screen, It shows me having a character on the realm but doesn't show it. I also Alt/tab out of game and it was showing an error in ascent.
Do you know what it might be?
