I am one of those people who likes everything custom. And making things custom can be very hard, especially when it comes to making custom leveling areas, with components such as, quests, mobs, npcs. In this guide I will show you how to make custom mobs for your custom leveling area. It can get very overwhelming if you don't know how to edit your DB or if you just aren't creative or something.
Selecting Your Area
When it comes to selecting an area, you want it to be an open space, usually one without mob or any inhabitance really. Areas you could consider could be:
There are a lot of possibilities when it comes to selecting an area. Remember that you can always delete mobs, but do this sparingly as you can't undo mistakes unless you want to find the ID of the monster in the DB and then add it again, but that can be a hassle.

Creating The Mobs
Part A: Selecting A Type Of Mob
When you are creating your mobs for your custom area, it is suggested that the mobs habitat is similar to the area.
Example: You would not put a blood thirsty spider in the middle of an icy tundra. Though you would put an wolf in an icy tundra.
This all goes to making it seem realistic.
Part B: Making The Mob In The Database
Here is the hard part if you haven't done it before. Some people catch onto DB editing quicker then others so try not to get frustrated. I suggest you use NaviCat. Use this to be more specific with factions and numbers. http://www.mmowned.com/forums/ascent...-creature.html
1 Go into creature_names in your DB
2 Add a new row using this button:
3 Enter in the values as listed:
Entry - Make a number that isn't used in the DB already
Name - What do you want your mob to be called.
Subname - The name underneath the main name in <>
mouseFlags-unk4 - 0
spelldataid - leave blank
male_displayid - Go in your server and find the monster that you want to look the same as. Click it and type in .npc info, look at the entry id number and go into your database and find it. Go down to male_displayid and use the same number there in the monster you are creating male_displayid.
The rest of the display ids you can leave 0 and the unkown_floats you can leave 1, and the rest should be 0.
4 Open up creature_proto
5 Add another row using this button:
6 Enter the values as listed:
Entry - The same number you put in for the entry the last time. As a lot of these are obvious, I will only list the ones you need to know
Faction - What faction you want it to be.
Mana - 0
Scale - How big you want it to be compared to the creature normal size
Npcflags - 0
Attacktime - The time in between attacks (in milliseconds)
Respawntime - The time in which after the mob is killed it respawns (in milliseconds)
Auras - 0
Spawning The Mob In Your Server
This is the easiest part. All you have to do is make a macro containing the command:
.npc spawn (the entry id you used)
Now run around the area you choose and keep clicking, try to have them somewhat apart so it is easy for players to kill them without be ambushed by them.
