I want to buy a 2nd account to bot on because I dont want to lose my main account i have like 800 hours hand played with not botting. But my friend said if I get a 2nd account and use it on vmware which I already have setup and ready to go, that if the bot account gets banned they will ban my main account as well because it running on same mac address. Can anyone confirm or deny this before i go through with buying a 2nd account?

Nope, if your bot account gets banned, they will not touch your main account, unless they have solid proof that you were botting on your main account.
EDIT: You don't even need to run any special things to hide your IP

Pretty much don't bot on it or use it to recieve funds from your bots are your fine. Vmware won't change anything, a VPN will atleast do something if you intend to use it to get funds from your bot.

few additional questions.

1 what the average life span of an account before they will ban it
2 on average how much per account can you make
3. how long will it take to get my investment back
4 if you use paypal to purchase are you still able to dispute once banned and get your money back
5 whats the safest bot/script in your opinion and which class is the best for getting as much gold as fast as you can that can be run on inferno to also get high ilvl drops
6 whats min gold find/mf you need to start running

1) No idea, I've been botting on 2 accounts for about 2 months with no bans.
2) 400k gold an hour at least.
3) = total_investment / (1.806*400000*24/1000000) days. You need to factor in the time to lvl your account to 60 and buy some decent gear to farm, maybe 5-6 days.
4) Blizzard wont chargeback the money you've made through the AH, no idea if you can chargeback your game purchase.
5) No bot seems "safer", every bot got hit by a banwave. AutoIT scripts are free though, so less time to get your investment back.
6) No gf/mf min, more is better. Most scripts/bots need pick up radius. You need at least 15 PR for Sarkoth and 42 for Core.
