Spread Sheet - Prospecting - Jewelcrafting - Disenchanting

Spread Sheet - Prospecting - Jewelcrafting - Disenchanting

    Calculates profit from,
    Propecting
    Jewelcrafting
    Disenchanting

Works well if you have any of the above professions, preferably 2.

Remenber is is all about theoretical so do not count on it to be correct if your only doing 10 stacks.
100+ stacks you can sorta count on it.

Hey man, this spreadsheet will be very helpful, but I noticed a mistake. You listed the drop chance for rare gems the same on both Obsidium and Elementium Ore. You have them both at a 1.2% chance to drop a rare gem. The actual drop rate for rare gems on Elementium Ore (according to Wowhead) is 4%.

As a result, this is causing lower profit numbers appearing for prospecting Elementium Ore than what they would be in reality.

It would be great if you could tell me how to edit your spreadsheet so I can get some real numbers. If that's impossible, then a fix would be awesome.

    +rep for potential

Did you create this in Office 2010 because when I try to open it in my older version of Microsoft Excel 2003 it converts it so I can open it but I can't actually edit the values.

I suspect your data for prospecting is wrong. Your spreadsheet tries to compensate for multiple drops by multiplying the value times 1.5, when infact the multiple drop rates are already factored into the percentages. This is why wowhead's prospecting percentages add up to more than 100%.

Using the default values with 10 set to everything. For Obsidium ore, The amount per prospect should read 2.4 for the green gems and 1.2 on the blue gems.

Edit: Also the disenchanting is way way off.

Read here how to calculate it properly: http://wow-pro.com/wiki/disenchanting_profit

Apologies for being a complete nub here, but I am having difficulties with opening the spreadsheet correctly in Excel. (I am not such a hero with XML sheets) When I open the [content_types] file in excel I get the question "How to open the file" a) as XML table b) as read only workbook c) use xml source taskpane.

With all these options I just get the programming info of the calculations etc in the sheet, not the pretty looking sheet as it is intended.

Could one of you please be so kind to give me a bit of guidance on how to open it correctly.

To open .xlsx files you need to have Excel 2007 or newer, if you have 2003 you will need to download FileFormatConverters from Microsoft website, just google it.
