Sounds good, will try it out and come back
I would highly recommend cutting the Shadowspirit Diamonds into Meta gems, just choose a meta gem that is not common on your server, believe it or not every single type of meta gem sells, so do not dismiss the stranger stat gems. The new arena season has just started so I would highly recommend buying a PVPviable meta gem since most have been focusing on PVE meta gems.
You will need JC level 490 I believe to cut most Shadowspirit Diamond Metas however.
Cheers Unholy - Shame I currently don't own a high level Jewelcrafter, it'd make the whole process so much easier rather than asking a Guildie to cut every 10 minutes
Tried it out, prospected 6 stacks of obsidium, got mats for 2 transmutes (4 diamonds) wich equals 1500 gold on my server...
One stack goes for 118 gold
118*6 =696
696-1500=804
profit: 804g
Nice method, +rep
EDIT: Sold all 4 for 1200g, so that makes it a lil less but still nice

Updated with an example of pricing - Note: You could buy the gems off of the Auction House if they are cheaper than Prospecting the Obsidium Ore.
Tomorrow I will be releasing a Spreadsheet.
Enjoy!
Works great - but don't forget to check the prices for the green gems.
On my server nightstones for example are still worth 100g each (due to people skilling jewelcrafting + daily I think), while (uncut) Shadowspirit Diamonds cost 300g each - in total, the gems needed are worth around 900g, thats 300g more than I would get by crafting them into Shadowspirit Diamonds. Since demand in limited and on many servers you can get tons of cheap ore, combining crafting Shadowspirit Diamonds + selling uncut green gems might be the best method for maximum gold on servers with higher green gem prices.
Aye, on my server as well - it's more profitable to sell the green gems than to make the diamond.
It's a shame - Just made 8000 Gold today alone.
I suggest, if this is profitable, you find yourself a permanent buyer.
Been doing this since 3 or 4 days after the xpac dropped Spend 2k on ore, made 26 diamonds (xmute spec ftw) Cut them and sell them for 500 a pop. Quite nice while everyone still has their levelling money and are more inclined to spend it

60g+ per green gem here only 400g for the meta
I will agree that Nightstone is expensive. About 80g each here - but that's why you prospect the ore - it's cheaper.
stacks of obsidian ore- 380
4 jasper- 46
7 zephyrite- 129.15
5 alicite- 47.25
4 carnelian- 131.6
2 hessonite- 54.2
3 nitestone- 344.25 (sold instantly)
1 dream emerald- 50.8
1 demonseye- 84.9
1 inferno ruby- 119.75
Total- 1007.90
Profit- 627.90
Took me less than 3 minutes to buy and prospect. Lucky to find low prices on the ore, usually sells for 120g a stack. Very good method, I'll give rep. Although this is a repeat of Titanium ore in WoTLK, and probably in BC although I never played back then :P
I just don't wanna purchase too much ore to jack up the prices, and certainly dont wanna flood the market. So I'll post a little up at a time.

Nightstone is ridiculous on my server. It's still sitting at 90g a piece. It is ever so tempting to sell my prospected Nightstone (17.5 Gold Each) for a huge profit with a guaranteed sell...
Most intersting.
