Another way to increase your iLVL by a solid 2-4 points

Apparently, a shirt (high item level) will increase your average item level.

I was at average item level 342, put on Pink Mageweave Shirt - Item - World of Warcraft and went to 344.

tl;dr - Get Pink Mageweave Shirt - Item - World of Warcraft - Wear it.

5 day old thread, but I figure I should point out that it appears to have been fixed today (Friday, 17th). My Rich Purple Silk Shirt was formerly iLvl 30+ (I think) and it's now 1. Tried unequipping it and re-equipping it, and my average ilvl didn't change.

lol yep, its been fixed, when i went to que for a heroic and it wouldn't let me i was like wtf
