Archaeology Common sense maybe over looked?

Since this is new I haven't seen this posted and thought I would Share. It might be common sense. But here goes:

when you get to your dig site and you start Surveying. Look at the direction of the Spyglass and follow its direction before you decide to dig again.

Its actually really easy to find the hidden artis.

Again this might just be obvious but I did my first to and didn't even look at spy glass. because all I read was to pay attention to the lights to see if your close.

    Red too far away.

    Yellow within 30-50yds

    Green withing 10-20yds

    Hope this helps

I thought that was the entire purpose of the "treasure-hunt" that this profession really is. Dropping at seemingly random intervals isn't the quickest way to do things I reckon.

This is what the information thing on the Archaeology book/journal says:

To recover artifacts, you need to collect artifact fragments. Fragments are found in digsites visible on your map. When you use a digsite, use the survey ability. Your survey tool will indicate the approximate direction and distance to the cache of fragments. You can collect fragments three times in a dig site before you need to move to a new digsite. Once you have enough fragments, you can solve an artifact to learn a little more about Azeroth's past. Happy hunting!

I havnt tried this, buy surely if you use the spy glass....and make sure u remember the direction its pointing....then move to the right by about 20 yards or so and use it again, it will point in a different direction...

Then all you have to do is go to where the 1 lines would have met....and that should be the location if the artifact

    it doesnt work like that

basically the direction of the spyglass is OUT by a some degrees depending on the distance from the artifact
so lets say you facing the artifact and its 5yards away (green) if you drop the glass you get a cone of 5° if however you are 90yards away that cone is now 90° so the direction will be OUT by upto 45° left or right if your say 160yards away the cone is now 160° giving the chance of being out by 80° either side.

    so heres my tips :-
place the survey down - walk the direction it shows you depending on color
place the survey down - instead of turn all the way it shows - only turn half way - then walk again depending on color
place the survey down - turn half way - walk ( rinse & repeat )
when you get to the artifact - pick it up before it despawns
if you use gatherer hit this handy macro
    Code:
/script Gatherer.Api.AddGather(157936, "Treasure", false, nil, nil, nil, true)
which will mark the area with a ungoro dirt pile (which is cool since if your not in ungoro it wont matter)
there are about 10 spawns per digsite (once you have all of them marked you can quickly tell which one your after and run to it for less survey time)

good luck all you treasure hunters :P

Possible that you can share your database of locations? I'd love you for that! <3
