    Cataclysm preperation compilation

    COMPILATION OF USEFULL STUFF
    Regarding Cataclysm preperation

The guide is stickied on mmo-champion. I am however the original writer and i thought i might aswell post it here.
Sorry about the links, the coloring and maybe the layout. I've redone it three times already and i cba doing it again.

This guide is things I've come across during my theorycrafting for the Cataclysm realese. It gives you some preperation methods and also an overview over the 5 man dungeons, which will come in handy as you do the dungeons.
Most of the tactics are from Wowwiki so they're not my work entirely. I will also update this guide as much as I can since all bosses and such is still on the beta stages.
(Hence the duplicated loot in som cases)

Things you might want to do/know:
    • Set your HS to Stormwind or Ogrimmar as they will remove Dalaran and Shattrah portals.
    • It's up to you really but the Hyjal starting zone is said to be much easier/faster then Vashj'ir for questing.
    • Before you can use the LFG tool you have to discover the entrance to the dungeon.
    • Empty your bags as much as you can.
    • Make or buy pots, food, elixirs and flasks that improves your best stat and/or enhancements that will shorten downtime such as mana pots for mana users.
    • Get your justice points to the cap (4000)
    • Make the optimal leveling specc (will most likely not be the same as the optimal pve specc you currently use)
    • Get traveler's tundra mount or Jeeves - Items - Sigrie if you're a engineer (there are many usefull enginering stuff!)

    No-lifer tips:
    • Crank Up the AC – Warm, stuffy environments accelerate mental fatigue.
    • Cold Water – Splash some on your face and the pulse area of your wrists. Drinking an ice-cold glass of water can also help to wake you up.
    • Chew Sugar-Free Peppermint Gum – It won’t rot your teeth and it will generate just enough physical activity to keep you awake. Strong peppermint flavors seem to work best.
    • Turn On All the Lights – Darkness promotes sleepiness. Turn on every light in the room.
    • Pull Down on Your Earlobes – This may sound strange, but pulling down on your earlobes can help you stay awake and alert when you’re feeling drowsy. Just try it.
    • Nutritious Low Carb Snacks – Low carb fruits such as raspberries, apples, oranges, and grapefruits are great energy boosters. Heaping scoops of spicy salsa on a few small crackers is another goodie. Stay away from meats, breads and dairy products.
    • Read up on all dungeon tactics.

    Vortex Pinnacle (VP) 82-84
Lost City of Tol'vir (LCoT) 85

    Halls of Origination (HoO) 85

I've also provided the entrance location to all the dungeons as you have to discover them before you can enter.

    Throne of the tides:
    Location: Abyssal Maw, Vashj'ir
Entrance: YouTube - Vash'jir: How to get to the Throne of the Tides
    Bosses:

    Lady Naz'jar:
    Stratgey:
    She has 2 phases.
1st phase is tank and spank but she will drop a blue animation on the ground(vortex). Standing in it will throw you up in the air and do high amount of damage, so avoid that.
She will also do 2 diseases but dont worry about them to much.
In phase 2 she will becom invulnerable and she will spawn adds, priority there is to kill the small ones first
    Loot:
Periwinkle Cloak - Items - Sigrie
Wrasse Handwraps - Items - Sigrie
Lightning Whelk Axe - Items - Sigrie
Aurelian Mitre - Items - Sigrie

    Commander Ulthok:
    Stratgey:
Avoid the Dark Fissures that appears in front of Commander Ulthok. Healers need to make sure everyone stays topped off, especially him or herself, so that they don't die to squeeze(pulls a random member and deals damage 5k dmg every 4th sec). If the tank feels confident about holding aggro, then kiting Commander Ulthok around the room will help greatly to avoid the Dark Fissure and his Enrage. Before the first Dark Fissure he will slow the tank, so stay mobile at the start.
    Loot:
    (None atm)

    Erunak Stonespeaker:
    Stratgey:
The encounter begins with Erunak mind controlled and hostile. He will periodically cast Magma Splash and Lava bolt. He has 1,800,000 hp, however, once he is brought to 50% hp, the Mindless One will appear and release Erunak. The Mindless One has 619,000 hp. It will target the player with the highest threat and Enslave them. That player must be brought to below 50% quickly so that dps can resume on Mindless One. While not enslaving players, he will cast shadow damage beams on all players that tick for moderate damage. He will mind control players 3 to 4 times before he is defeated.
    Loot:
    Anthia's Ring - Items - Sigrie
Conch of Thundering Waves - Items - Sigrie
Anomuran Helm - Items - Sigrie

    Ozumat:
    Stratgey:
The encounter begins in a zerg. Smaller trash minions swarm and more powerful mobs spawn. If Neptulon dies, the encounter resets.
The Encounter has 3 Phases. In Phase 1, small Murlocs spawn which should be AoE down quickly by one party member. Additionally, Vicious Mindlashers and Unyielding Behemoths spawn. Your tank must taunt every spawning Unyielding Behemoth and kite them around the room, as they have a 25k damage AoE knockback and spray an ink attack in a frontal cone. Your DPS should focus on the Vicious Mindlashers and kill them as quick as possible. The Vicious Mindlashers chain cast Shadowbolt, Veil of Shadows and Brain Spike. After some time, Phase 2 will start.
Phase 2 starts with 3 Faceless Sappers spawning and channeling an ability on Neptulon which renders him useless for Phase 2 and will stack a DoT on him, which will deal massive damage to Neptulon if it stacks to high. In this phase, the Murlocs and Vicious Mindlashers will stop spawning, but the Unyielding Behemoths still spawn. Additionally, a new mob called Blight Beast starts spawning. Your tank also has to kite the Blight Beasts, because they have an aura which deals 2000 shadow damage increases shadow damage taken by 50% and this aura stacks. Additionally, Ozumat can now be seen outside the room, shooting Blight of Ozumat at the group. This Leaves behind a void zone that leaves a DoT on everyone who stands inside. The DoT deals 300 damage per stack and is applied every second as long as you stand in it. The DPS must burn down the Faceless Sappers as fast as possible or else Neptulon will die extremely fast because of the DoT.

After all Mindless Sappers are dead, Phase 3 starts. All remaining mobs are still there and must be killed. Neptulon will damage Ozumat (who has over 3,000,000 life). It seems, that Ozumat starts casting Blight of Ozumat in the whole room, but doesn't stop from casting it (which seems to be a bug). The fight has finally been fixed to where Neptulon buffs you all with +500% health, healing, and damage. This allows you to burn through Ozumat's 3 million hp in 20 seconds or so.
    Loot:

    Blackrock Caverns:
    Location: Blackrock Mountain, Searing Gorge
Entrance: YouTube - Blackrock Caverns : How you get there
    Bosses:

    Rom'ogg Bonecrusher:
    Stratgey:
Not much but he will do "Quake" which he does ones in a while. The areas inflicted appear as small squares of cracked gorund. So watch out for thsoe and he will draw everyone to him and chain them in place, while everyone is chained he will begin casting a small AOE spell so kill the "main" chain and run away as quick as you can.
    Loot:
Manacles of Pain - Items - Sigrie
Shield of the Iron Maiden - Items - Sigrie
    Torturer's Mercy - Items - Sigrie
Inquisition Robes - Items - Sigrie
Skullcracker Ring - Items - Sigrie

    Corla, Herald of Twilight:
    Stratgey:
Corla has 3 adds infront of her channeling purple beams. They will just be there being harmless until they evolve into nasty things doing massive damage to the tank. This is avoidable by having 2 grps of 2 rotating and stading infront of their purple beams. Standing infront of them for to long will result in the player being MC'ed . However it is doable without the complicated "rotating beam" tacs. Just let them evolve and nuke them down one by one. After all the adds are dead nuke the boss and interupt her as much as possible!
    Loot:
Signet of Transformation - Items - Sigrie
Grace of the Herald - Items - Sigrie
    Corla's Baton - Items - Sigrie

    Karsh Steelbender:
    Stratgey:
Throwing him into the central pillar of fire will make him gain stacks of a buff. He cannot be damaged until he has some stacks of this buff.
While he has this buff, he deals an amount of aoe fire damage on the party proportional to the number of stacks. Unfortunately, his damage in modifier increases proportionally with the number of stacks as well. Get too many stacks, and you will be doing more damage, but the healer will be overwhelmed leading to deaths.
    Loot:
    Steelbender's Masterpiece - Items - Sigrie
Heat Wave Leggings - Items - Sigrie
Bracers of Cooled Anger - Items - Sigrie
Quicksliver Amulet - Items - Sigrie

    Beauty:
    Stratgey:
Basicly, avoid fire. Not much else to it.
But he has some puppies and all of these puppies can currently be pulled before the encounter with Beauty. Runty should not be killed, since his corpse will cause Beauty to berserk.
    Loot:
    Kibble - Items - Sigrie
    Beauty's Favorite Bone - Items - Sigrie
    Beauty's Chew Toy - Items - Sigrie

    Ascendant Lord Obsidius:
    Stratgey:
He got 2 adds (small iron dwarfs) that needs to be kited. They are slowable and such but can not be polymorphed. They will occasionally swap places so the big one gets small and another one gets big , but always kite the small ones.
    Loot:
Twitching Shadows - Items - Sigrie
Witching Hourglass - Items - Sigrie
    Raz's Pauldrons - Items - Sigrie
Willowy Crown - Items - Sigrie
Amber Messenger - Items - Sigrie

    The Stonecore:
    Location: Deepholm
Entrance: YouTube - WoW Cataclysm : The Stonecore entrance
    Bosses:

    Corborus:
    Stratgey:
She has 2 abilities. First is her Crystal Barrage, she will shoot out crystals beneath a random group member, move away from those asap. The second ability is Dampening Wave which deals a small amount of shadow damage to all enemies within 60 yards and those afflicted (everyone) will absorb up to 4k healing. So if a healer heals you for 10k while you are suffering from this effect you will only get healed for 6k. This effect can stack up to 20 times but can easily be dispelled. He will then burrow and when he is underground be sure to move at all time otherwise he wil pop up beneath you and do damage+knockback. During his underground phase he will spawn adds, just aoe them down.
    Loot:
Key to the Endless Chamber - Items - Sigrie
Fist of Pained Senses - Items - Sigrie
Phosphorescent Ring - Items - Sigrie
Cinnabar Shoulders - Items - Sigrie

    Slabhide:
    Stratgey:
He will do a ground eruption which will result in some lava on the ground, avoid standing in them. As the Forgemaster Garfrost (first boss in PoS) fight it will appear a bunch of shadows on the ground avoid them as he will drop pillars from the ceiling on those spots.
    Loot:
Stalagmite Dragon - Items - Sigrie
Deep Delving Gloves - Items - Sigrie
Hematite Plate Gloves - Items - Sigrie
Rose Quartz Band - Items - Sigrie
Quicksilver Blade - Items - Sigrie

    Ozruk:
    Stratgey:
Pull him forward to the narrowest part of the hallway behind him, tank him backed against one of the walls. So when he does the knockback ability, the tank won't be thrown away. When he is charging Ground Slam, move directly through him to the other side, backed against the other wall. He also has a spell reflection shield but the chance of it reflecting your spell is at the moment only 20% so dont think too much about that.
    Loot:
Sword of the Bottomless Pit - Items - Sigrie
Pendant of the Lightless Grotto - Items - Sigrie
Tendrils of Burrowing Dark - Items - Sigrie
Belt of the Ringworm - Items - Sigrie

    High Priestess Azil:
    Stratgey:
She will constantly bring in adds that you have to kill, they got shit HP so no worries. Void zones will also pop up, beware. She will then jump to her ledge and start throwing rocks at you. They are easily avoided by not standing in the black circle that will spawn just before she throws the rock.
    Loot:
Leaden Despair - Items - Sigrie
    Prophet's Scepter - Items - Sigrie
Slippers of the Twilight Prophet - Items - Sigrie
Tear of Blood - Items - Sigrie
Elementium Fang - Items - Sigrie

    Vortex Pinnacle: (Farout sexy instance!)
    Location: Skywall, (Uldum)
Entrance: YouTube - Vortex Pinnacle entrance
    Bosses:

    Grand Vizier Ertan:
    Stratgey:
When he is pulled, a ring of whirlwinds appear centered on him and with a radius of about 30 yards. Standing in the whirlwinds will cause damage and slow you, so all player should get inside of it. About every 40 seconds, the ring retracts to cover the boss. Either the healer should heal though it or everyone should run out.
    Loot:
Biting Wind - Items - Sigrie
Stratosphere Belt - Items - Sigrie
Fallen Snow Shoulderguards - Items - Sigrie
Headcover of Fog - Items - Sigrie
Red Sky Pendant - Items - Sigrie

    Altarius:
    Stratgey:
When the wind shifts, players should move so that they are upwind of Altairus for a buff.
DPS and the healer should not stand by the tank, or they will be get breathed on.
    Loot:
Amulet of Tender Breath - Items - Sigrie
Skyshard Ring - Items - Sigrie
Axe of the Eclipse - Items - Sigrie
    Hail-Strung Belt - Items - Sigrie
Mantle of Bestilled Winds - Items - Sigrie

    Asaad:
    Stratgey:
Basically, this is a tank and spank fight.
When he starts casting Unstable Grounding Field , everyone, even the tank, must stand inside it before he finishes. He will then cast Supremacy of the Storm, dealing massive damage to anyone outside the field. While he is casting Supremacy of the Storm, he will be in melee range of everyone inside the Grounding Field.
    Loot:

    Lost City of the Tol'vir:
    Location: Vir'naal River Delta, Uldum
Entrance: YouTube - Entrance to Lost city of the Tol'vir
    Bosses:

    General Husam:
    Stratgey:
    Tank and spank.
There are glowing traps on the ground, crossing them causes them to explode, dealing damage and knocking back everyone nearby.
Husam periodically casts Shockwave, causing four lines of dust clouds to appear, radiating from him. Everyone should run out of them, or them will be knocked back and take damage.
    Loot:
Spirit Creeper Ring - Items - Sigrie
    Seliza's Spear - Items - Sigrie
Kaleki Cloak - Items - Sigrie
Ionic Gloves - Items - Sigrie
Greaves of Wu the Elder - Items - Sigrie

    High Prophet Barim:
    Stratgey:
Baram periodically gains the Fifty Lashing buff, greatly increasing the damage that he does to the tank. The healer and tank should use cooldowns if need be.
Periodically, random players are targeted by Heaven's Fury (looks like a bolt of light from the sky). They should run out of it.
At around 50%, Baram casts Repentance, pulling all players to him and stunning them. After a few seconds, everyone is knocked them back and sent them to the spirit world.
Baram is immune to all damage while channeling Repentance or in the spirit world.
A Harbinger of Darkness will appear; the tank needs to immediately taunt it. Showing enemies nameplates may make it easier to see.
Everyone needs to stay out of the glowing ground around Barim, or they will take damage from Hallowed Ground.
After the Harbinger of Darkness dies, phase one repeats until Barim dies.
    Loot:
(Atm it says it drops the same as General Husam)

    Lockmaw:
    Stratgey:
Periodically, Augh casts Scent of Blood on a random target. Four Frenzied Crocolisks will then appear and attack the marked target. Marked target should run to the tank, the tank should taunt the Crocolisks off them and/or the Crocolisks should AOE'ed down.
Augh periodically casts Whirlwind; the tank should taunt him or he should be kited.
At 30%, Lockmaw enrages: either remove the enrage or the tank/healer should use cooldowns.
    Loot:
Heart of Solace - Items - Sigrie
Sand Silk Wristband - Items - Sigrie
    Barim's Main Gauche - Items - Sigrie
Sand Dune Belt - Items - Sigrie

    Siamat:
    Stratgey:
Storm Cloud appear throughout the fight and slowly rotate around Siamat, dealing damage and knocking back any player below them. Everyone should watch for them, and run out if they see one come near.
Shortly after the pull, Siamat will cast Deflecting Winds on himself, reducing all damage taken by 90%. While he is protected, he will stand in the center and cast Storm Bolt at players.
Throughout the fight, Siamat summons Servants of Siamat and Minions of Siamat, so attack them while Siamat is protected. The Minions will kill themselves after time, so focus on the Servants.
After killing X Servants and Minions, Siamat's Deflecting Wind will fade and he will channels Wailing Winds, dealing AOE damage to and flinging around all players.
After Deflecting Wind ends, he will attack the tank, and should be burned down before the AOE damage overwhelms the healer. During this phase, he will cast Absorb Storms, gaining Gathered Storms at the cast end. This will deal AOE damage to all players. Minions will continue to appear, but should be ignored.

    Grim Batol:
    Location: Grim Batol, Twilight Highlands
Entrance: YouTube - Cataclysm Beta: Grim Batol Entrance
    Bosses:

    General Umbriss:
    Stratgey:
Periodically summons 4 Malignant Troggs, starting shortly after the pull. These Troggs apply a stacking debuff on their target, and there must be burned down.
Tank and melee must be careful to avoid Ground Siege (think Pound from Anub'arak in Azjol-Nerub).
Healer need to watch for Bleeding Wounds on tank, and heal the tank to full to prevent the debuff for doing any extra damage.
Range need to watch for Bliz being cast on them, and move away if it is.
At about 30%, Umbriss enrages (Frenzy). Everyone should use any cooldowns left and burn him down before the damage on tank overwhelms the healer. Alternately, he may be kited.

    Modgud's Blade - Items - Sigrie
Wildhammer Riding Helm - Items - Sigrie

Everyone needs to avoid standing in Cave in.
    Equipping Sword:
Tank and Healer should use cooldowns.
    Healer should focus on tank.
    Equipping Mace:
    Tank should run away.
Melee DPS needs to carefully not to pull agro, as that will likely lead to death.
    Equipping Shield:
Tank and DPS should stand behind Throngus.
Healer needs to AOE heal, due to the Framing Arrows.
    Loot:
    Throngus's Finger - Items - Sigrie
Belt of the Forgemaster - Items - Sigrie
Ring of Dun Algaz - Items - Sigrie
Wand of Untainted Power - Items - Sigrie

    Drahga Shadowburner:

When Drahga yell INCINERATE THEM, MINIONS! or BY FIRE BE... BURNED!, an patch of fire appear on the ground. An Invoked Flaming Spirit appears there shortly afterward and runs to a random person, who will be marked by a line of fire. When they reach their target, they cast Supernova. The dps need to kill the Invoked Flaming Spirit before it gets to the person. Invoked Flaming Spirit can and should be stunned and slowed. Everyone should run away if they are marked.
The tank needs to watch for Shredding Swipe in Valiona phase, and move when it is applied.
    Loot:
Windwalker Blade - Items - Sigrie
Azureborne Cloak - Items - Sigrie
Red Scale Boots - Items - Sigrie
Crimsonborne Bracers - Items - Sigrie

    ]Erudax:
    Stratgey:
Everyone needs to watch for Shadow Gale. When Erudax casts Shadow Gale, a dark spiral will appear on the ground. This will be the safe spot. Everyone needs to turn and run into the safe spot. After a few seconds, everywhere outside the safe spot will afflict a stacking debuff.
After Shadow Gale fades, an Faceless Corruptor will appear at the doorway. It will run to an egg and cast Twilight Corruption on it. DPS need to kill it before it finishes casting Twilight Corruption. It cannot be stunned but can be slowed. Should it finish casting Twilight Corruption, two Twilight Hatchling will appear, and fly above the party, casting Twilight Blast on random people. Additionally, the Faceless Corruptor will cast Umbral Mending on Erudax, healing him for 20% max health.

Tanks needs to watch for Enfeebling Blow (knockback), which will apply a double damage taken debuff for 3 seconds. Therefore, when the tank is knocked back, they should wait for Erudax to come to them, to allow time for debuff to fade.

    Halls of Origination:
    Location: Uldum
Entrance: YouTube - Entrance to Halls of Origination.
    Bosses:

    Temple Guardian Anhuur:
    Stratgey:
Healer and ranged needs to spread out to avoid Divine Reckoning hitting more than one target.
Everyone must watch for Searing Light and move if it targets you.

About every minute, he gains Shield of Light and begins to channel Reverberating Hymn. Two players must jump down into the pit and hit a switch on the left and right to disable Shield of Light. Then, someone must interrupt Reverberating Hymn. The two player down in the pit will agro Pit Vipers, and will bring them up to the boss when running back. When the Viper come, everyone should AOE them down. It may help for healer to heal the player down in the pit or the tank to taunt off them to get the Viper to run up without attacking the people in the pit the whole way back up.
    Loot:
Belt of Petrified Tears - Items - Sigrie
Poison Fang Bracers - Items - Sigrie
    Anhuur's Hymnal - Items - Sigrie
Darkhowl Amulet - Items - Sigrie
Awakening Footfalls - Items - Sigrie

    Earthrager Ptah:
    Stratgey:
Melee dps should not stand near the tank to avoid Raging Smash.
At 50%, Ptah falls apart, and about 6 non-elite Jeweled Scarab and 2 elite Dustbone Horror appear. Everyone should stack on the tank and AOE them down. The tank should focus on the Dustbone Horrors. Everyone should watch for Quicksand, and run out if it appears under them. After all the adds are killed or after a set time, Ptah reappears.
    Loot:
Seedling Pod - Items - Sigrie
Bulwark of the Primordial Mound - Items - Sigrie
Soul Releaser - Items - Sigrie

Underworld Cord - Items - Sigrie

    Anraphet:
    Stratgey:
Everyone should run out of Alpha Beam.
About every minute, Anraphet channels Omega Stance, dealing damage to everyone. Healer must heal though it.
    Loot:
Omega Breastplate - Items - Sigrie
Boots of Crumbling Ruin - Items - Sigrie
    Anraphet's Regalia - Items - Sigrie
Alpha Bracers - Items - Sigrie
Mantle of Soft Shadows - Items - Sigrie

    Isiset:
    Stratgey:
Periodically, she casts Supernova. Everyone must face away from her at cast completion, or be blinded for 3 seconds.
At 60% Isiset splits into Astral Rain, Veil of Sky, and Celestial Call. After one dies, the other two vanish and Isiset reappears. However, she will not use the ability matching the name of the mob that you killed. Additionally, the two abilities that remain are stronger.
At 30%, Isiset splits again into the two remaining abilities. After one dies, the other vanish, and Isiset reappears. This time, she will only use the remaining ability, but it will stronger yet again.
    Loot:
Blood of Isiset - Items - Sigrie
Ring of Blinding Stars - Items - Sigrie
Armguards of Unearthly Light - Items - Sigrie

    Ammunae:
    Stratgey:
He will occasionally use a life drain, which targets a random group memeber that will be immobalized during the drain.
He will also spawn small seed looking things, if they're not killed in a certain amount of time they will transform to small flowers running around making a mess.
There will also be spores spawning. They will eventually drop down and form a small pool of oragne slime, avoid stadning in them.
    Loot:
Bulwark of the Primordial Mound - Items - Sigrie
Seedling Pod - Items - Sigrie

Slashing Thorns - Items - Sigrie
Mouth of the Earth - Items - Sigrie

    Setesh:
    Stratgey:
Setesh opens a portal to the void every 30 sec or so. Each portal summons a Void Sentinel, followed by a Void Seeker about 10 seconds later, followed by two Void Wurm about 10 additional seconds later.
The tank should tank Void Sentinels. Setesh is not tank-able.
DPS should kill Void Seekers to prevent it from using Anti-Magic Prison. They should attack Setesh otherwise, and should ignore the Void Sentinels.
The tank should be able to kill the Void Wurm by themselves.
Should a Void Seeker cast Anti-Magic Prison(channeld), they should be interrupted, stunned, etc as soon as possible.
And do watch out for the bubbles on the ground and void zones(with low graphics the void zone will appear as a thin smoke cloud).
    Loot:
Scepter of Power - Items - Sigrie
Helm of the Typhonic Beast - Items - Sigrie

Ranged should spread out to avoid more than one being targeted by Inferno Leap at a time.
All players should watch for Solar Wind, whirlwind(s) roaming the room, and run away from it. If it hits a player, they take damage and are knocked back.
Everyone should try to interrupt Summon Sun Orb. Should one get summoned, everyone should avoid it.
Periodically, he casts Inferno Leap on a ranged. They will get a debuff, Burning Adrenaline Rush, which increases movement speed. They should use it to run out of leap's target location in time.
After about a minute, he moves to the center of the room, and casts Blessing of the Sun. Everyone should stack up, DPS should use cooldowns, and the healer should spam AOE heals.

Great post man, well deserves my +5!
Since you asked for adding, or requests. Well basicly i wasnt lucky to get to Beta, and i don't like paying for it (+don't have money)
You mention in your post that we should set hearthstone to Stormwind/Orgrimar. If you could add the "starting" quests, the ones you do in stormwind, and short explanation as to where to go first (i.e. Library, Old town, Park (which is blown up doh) you get my point.
I assume you got like 1 q, than few folow ups and than your on your way to Hyjal. If you could do a walkthrough through those. Id definatly find a way to +rep again!
