Ok, so I did a quick search and I couldn't find anything similar to this in another thread...
This is mainly in response to a couple of requests I've seen includingandIs there any legal way of having a sound alert played when a whisper is received ingame, even if WoW is minimized? I mean, if I setup such an addon to start playing a heavy metal song upon getting a whisper, that should at least let me reply to GMs. Hell, would be nice if it could separate from normal whispers and GM whispers as well, to avoid getting woken up 20 times a night...The first thing you'll want to do is grab an addon called Prat, available from Prat 3.0 - Addons - Curse.I usually sit afk on WoW while I wait for arena members while I play games like Spore or CoD4 and I constantly have to tab back and forward to check for whispers and to see if people are on. I have used pir0x bot and that plays a sound whenever you get a whisper, so I was wondering, is there a program that plays a sound outside of WoW whenever you get a whisper?
This is a chat enhancement addon that has many features, including sounds upon guild chat, raid chat, party chat, and most importantly whispers.
After installing prat, you'll want to open up the options menu by typing /prat.
Open up the Module Control tab of the menu and make sure that the Sounds module is set to "Enabled".
After doing this, open the Extra Stuff tab, and select sounds from the left menu.
Under the Incoming Sounds tab of the sub menu, you'll notice different types of chat.
Whisper is the one you want. Select a random sound you like, or alternatively select a sound you'd like to replace.
If you've selected one you like, you can stop here... But if you want to replace it with... say... a heavy metal song... you'll need to exit WoW, open up your WoW folder and go through this path: \World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\Prat-3.0\sounds
Here you'll see the different sounds you have available, replace the sound you want to use (this sound must use the same name and the ogg format, you can use a free program such as Audacity to create sounds in this format).
And that's it Start wow up, and whisper yourself to make sure it works.
