pull mobs around the world with a pet

    tested on: warlock with felguard
maybe it works with all pets, maybe not, im too lazy to test it now
i tested it with different mobs in icecrown, i don't know if it will work with all mobs

    1. let your pet attack a mob
    2. stop your pet from attacking and let it follow you
    3. run to wherever you want
    4. instead off resetting the mob will switch the target to attack you (if you run too far while the mob targets you it will reset)
    5. let your pet hit the mob once, so the mob will switch it's target back to your pet
    -> continue with step 2

pull mobs around the world with a pet

Where is the exploit. Pets always put the owner in combat and on the mobs threat list. Hitting a mob over and over will cause it to follow you. Was this ever not the case?

That is not the exploit. The exploit is the fact that if a mob is chasing your pet, instead of resetting, it will start chasing you when it would normally reset

The mechanics of mobs have changed heaps since then, each major patch made it harder and harder to kite enemies as they would reset from the smallest distractions or if you didn't do enough damage (meaning they would usually be dead by the time they reached the target location)

This looks to be a good way of kiting without killing.

I do believe EZ is correct. To my knowledge this is normal and has been like this for a long time.

lol @ the people who sais this isnt an exploit...
This has to be an exploit, would be kind of weird if it was intended by blizzard so that only classes with pets can pull mobs how long they want but it resets if you dont do it like this. if blizz wanted people to be able to kite mobs around the world, they would just remove the reset

A change to threat mechanics is interesting, but not an exploit. (maybe belongs here? Threat - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft )

Blizzard has not made it more difficult kite mobs in the latest patch. I don't even think it is on their radar of things they care about.

So I'm not talking out of my butt, I just double checked, you can still kite something for 7 days straight until the servers go down for maintenance by only casting Faerie Fire every 10 seconds, regardless of distance traveled.

    /facepalm

This has always been like this with all pet classes. Hate it most of the time -.- And its not an exploit. Just a game mechanic. Aggro is aggro and what aggros your pet also aggros you even if you've already lost all threat.

Actually, I think this explains how I managed I got Thekal to go into Phase 2 outside of his leash-zone and he didn't reset. Before patch 4.0.1, I could pull Thekal out of his leash zone but he would reset when I FDed to bug him into Phase 2. It might mean that you don't have to do the FD-and-repeat glitch to force him into Phase 2 anymore. Maybe just need to pull him further out of his leash zone? I can't really say, this only happened one time since the patch for me.

seems like a lot of you don't see the benefits of this. Its a exploit because your not supposed to be able to kite a mob from say Un'garo Crater into Org but you can because it will never path back or reset. It'll just take awhile

maybe I miss read it though it is like 5 am and I don't have a class with a pet so I wouldn't know their mechanics.
