    Marksman Hunter in 4.0.1 PvE

    Glossary:

    KS: Kill Shot
    SS: Steady Shot
    CS: Chimera Shot
    AS: Aimed shot
    SERS: Snake Bite
    MS: MultiShot
    ARS: Arcane Shot

This guide is for pve only that I made with my guild mates, hope you'll enjoy !
First and foremost, I want to say that I keep my personal information and testing of various sites such as:

Manaflask - by Ensidia and For the Horde

    Zeherah's Hunter DPS Analyzer

    Hunters - Elitist Jerks

    French sites:

    World of Warcraft Chasseur

World of Warcraft (fr) Forums -> [Guide] Le chasseur PvE 4.0

    __________________________________________________

    Summary:

    1 / Talents / Masteries

    2 / Glyphs

    3 / Gear selection

    4 / Rotation

    5 / Pets

    6 / Supplies

    7 / Useful addons

    8 / Macros

    9 / Talents in detail

    _____________________________________________________

    I - 1 / Talents

Since 4.0.1, a template stands out:

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

In fact, there's not a bunch of solutions, especially at lvl 80. The 3% haste is taken as a priority once the template MM completed.

    I - 2 / Masteries

    • Artisan Quiver - Ranged auto-attack damage increased by 15%
    • Wild Quiver - Grants a 14.4% chance for your ranged attacks to also instantly fire an additional ranged shot for 100% normal damage. Each point of Mastery increases the chance by an additional 1.8%.

Mastery in MM (as with other Specs) is an extremely important stat. Indeed, the wild quiver stuff with a reforged geat for this mastery, in between the top 3 sources of damage, according to the rate of the player's mastery of course.

    _____________________________________________________

    II / Glyphs

    Prime:

The 3 glyphs that follow are those that provide the best performance in terms of dps.

    • Glyph of Arcane Shot: a 12% damage increase to your main focus dump is probably a must have for all 3 specs.
    • Glyph of Kill Shot: This glyph sounds really fancy, but what it basically comes down to is the ability to use 2 Kill Shots in a row every 11 seconds. Resulting in 1 KS per 5.5 seconds average. Only more bursty
    • Glyph of Steady Shot: Before cataclysm launches (so in 4.0) all specs use steady shot, therefore this glyph is probably a must have.

    Major:

    • Glyph of Disengage: Pretty much a required glyph for PvE. Because of the separation of dps and utility glyphs you can now always pick this up. Increases the
    mobility a lot.

    Minor:

Unchanged from WotLK these provide minor and aesthetic bonuses. All of them are the same as in WotLK.
However, these glyphs are gadgets, and the player himself has to choose to take what is most useful

    _____________________________________________________

    III / Gear

    Heading numerals:

Hit: 246, payattention to the overcap !
Crit: 104.8%, or approximately 90.8% on the character sheet. Given our current stats in raid, we will take only 1 / 2 on Careful Aim to not overcap crit.

    Stats

    1) Hit rating: at the moment everything still points at hit rating remaining the superior stat before hit cap.So this is the most important statistic as it is not capped (8% / / 246 touch.) Any missing items is a net loss of DPS.

    2) Agility: With agility now providing 2 AP and some crit, agility is the main stat after you capped hit. Blizzard has also stated that they want the primary stats (Strength / Agility / Intellect / etc) to be the most powerful stats.

    3) Mastery: We are not certain yet which combat ratings (other than hit) are the most powerful. Mastery seems to take the lead though, and a lot of testing confirms this. However it is spec dependent. For example it currently seems the BM and SV mastery are respectively stronger than the MM mastery

    4) Crit: Increases the critical strike chance. careful not to exceed the cap described!

    5) Haste: ncreases the focus regeneration, and allows faster shooting cast insured, and therefore more ArS caller if the forward rate is sufficient. Be careful though to never delay or CS AiS.

    Gemming:

    Red socket:
20 Agility --- Delicate Cardinal Ruby --- Red Color

    Yellow socket:
    10 Agility + 10 Haste Rating --- Deft Ametrine --- Orange Color
    10 Agility + 10 Crit Rating --- Deadly Ametrine --- Orange Color

    Blue Socket:
20 Hit Rating --- Rigid Majestic Zircon --- Blue Color
    10 Agility + 10 Hit Rating --- Glinting Dreadstone --- Purple Color

Note: Since we no longer benefit from Intellect and Blue sockets are good ways to correct our hitrating, Nightmare Tears are no longer optimal.

    ___________________________________________

    IV / Rotation

3 Different priorities according to the progress of the fight:

    > 100% -80% Boss

    AiS> CS> 2 * SS (for the proc)> ARS (Focus dump)> SS (up foca)

    > 80% -20% Boss

    CS> AIS> 2 * SS (proc)> ARS (Focus dump)> SS (Up FOCA)

    > 20% -0% Boss

    KS> CS> AIS> 2 * SS (Proc)> ARS (Focus dump)> SS (Up FOCA)

    Note:
    - Do not forget hunters mark
    - Keep the +15% haste constantly active is very important.
    - Set the bar in Foca in a visible place, it's very useful.
    ______________________________________________________________

    V / Pets

    - 100% hit (Rounded to below %. If you have 7,999% hit, your pet will be in 7 ! )
    - 100% crit
    - 100% haste (Except rapid fire )
    - 42.5% of our AP
    - 0% of our strength

Note that pets' dps has been standardized, we therefore choose the pet according to the buff to make a raid.

Here is a table summarizing by Malazee: WoW Petopia Community • View topic - Pet Usage Flowchart and Ability Spreadsheet

    ______________________________________________________

    VI / Supplies

I think anyone learn anything there, but you never know!

Flask of Endless Rage: +180 ap
    + Fin damsel (I think): +40 acted / 40 endurance
    Conso + 30 pet strength / endurance 30

    ___________________________________________________

VII / Interface and useful addons

There are very useful addons like:

Pitbull: Move the picture to get the bar in front foca!
PitBull 3.0 : WoWInterface Downloads : Unit Mods

    Fortexorcist: Manage timers and CD's.
ForteXorcist : WoWInterface Downloads : Warlock

    Quartz: Modular casting bar.
Quartz - Modular Casting Bar : WoWInterface Downloads : Casting Bars and Cooldowns

Dfilter: Management of buffs / debuffs on yourself / her target / her focus
Debuff Filter - Addons - Curse

Other addons that might be useful:

    Deadly boss mods
    Zug Zug Huntar
    Omen
Recount (for those who like to see the damage)
    Viper Notify
    FloAspectBar
Gun Silencer (for those of you who like playing with sound, but hates the sound of gunshots)

    ______________________________________________________________

    VIII / Useful Macros

Remember to remove all macros running SilShot / KC automatically!

    Burst
    # Showtooltip Rapid Fire
    / Cast Rapid Fire
    / Use "item"
/ Cast Call of the Wild
    / CastKill Command
    Using CDs to burst simultaneously

    Master's Call
Allows use on call of the master himself or default on the target at which we move the mouse.

    Camera
    / Console cameradistancemaxfactor 8
Moves back to the camera max.

    Pet Attack / Follow
    / Petattack
/ Petfollow [target = pettarget, exists]
Allows you to attack the pet and bring him back with a single button.

Basic shot without error messages and sounds
    # Showtooltip * Shot *
    / Console Sound_EnableSFX 0
    / Cast * Shot *
    / Console Sound_EnableSFX 1
    / Script UIErrorsFrame: Clear ();
Suppresses error messages like 'This is not ready yet' etc ...

Tahnks for reading, and sorry for my crappy english.
I just wanted to add my contribution to this good site that helped me sometimes.

    Couple things regarding your rotation:

Even with the additional crit talent, you should never open with Aimed. On a boss, you should be able to open with Hunters Mark, always, but for target switching we have marked for death.

A more proper priority would be

if HM is not on target or running out in less than a set time and there´s no MfD on target and MfD is not talented and focus/cooldowns/target heath don´t allow for KS or CS
    --> cast HM
if KS is off CD and target health is at or below 20%
    --> cast KS
if CS is off CD and enough focus
    --> cast CS
    if MMM buff is up
    --> cast AimS
if SpS is not on target and enough focus
    --> cast SpS
if SS won´t overcap focus and last spell has been SS and the spell before last spell has not been SS
    --> cast SS
if enough focus to cast AS now and still enough to cast CS whenever it comes off CD
    --> cast AS
    none of the above
    --> cast SS

This would be your priority system, but you'll want to open with Serpent, that way both of your dots (SrS and Bleeds) are rolling the entire time. Then you would CS, SS in pairs (always to keep ISS buff up), Arcane dump. The only time you should be casting Aimed shot is when it is a free proc. Never as an opener.

@Centraix: Thanks a lot for the copy/paste of the shot priority on Elitist Jerks: The MM hunter in 4.0.1 - Elitist Jerks
I think you read my rotation too quickly.
AiS> CS only if Boss's life is in 100% -80%.
    When 80% -0% Boss CS> AIS.
The shot priority that you pasted is not as detailed as the one I built.

Clearly it was directly copied from EJ. Maybe you should spend more time there before writing a guide teaching others to play and giving inaccurate information. You make no mention of the Master Marksman buff, when to use procced aimed shots or if you should delay them. You don't explain an proper opening. If you want to continue doing things wrong, be my guest, but don't spread bad info.

And next time, don't try to snap at me for copying EJ, when you blatantly copied World of Warcraft (en) Forums -> The 4.0 Guide because I don't think you are the original author of that thread. I was just trying to help you out, bro.

I didn't tried to snap you. You quote Ej to say that my rotation was wrong, but I have the exactly same rotation.
Plus, I never said that i could teach to someone how to play as a hunter. My goal with this guide is to help hunter that already know the mecanics of this class, to help them in their transition to the 4.0.1 .
I'm sorry if you dislike this guide. I just wanted to contribute.

---------- Post added at 01:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:47 PM ----------

And can you show me where did I copy the guide you link to?

He already did - it's the link to the WoW forums.
OP - I'm still going to +Rep you, purely because I'm too lazy to search for it myself.
    Cheers buddy.

Thanks to Mit0 for the sweet Sig!

I know he thinks that i leeched this guide on the wow forum.
But it's not true, I wrote it with my guildmates and the link to the wow forum is not the same guide that this one.
