So I know a lot of people have this keyboard, or similar boards like the G11 or G19. What I've noticed however, is people tend to be lazy with the macro functions. You can do a lot of cool things, specifically automating tedious processes like crafting or milling.
Milling / Prospecting
This one is pretty simple. This macro is already out there just to make milling and prospecting a one button push operation. With the g15 you can make this even easier by setting a macro to push the keybind, wait a few seconds, then repeat. If you're a big scriber like me, then sometimes you have to mill thousands of herbs at a time, which is extremely boring. Here, I can just press the key once and go watch TV. These are your WoW macros, just insert whatever herb or ore you need to be milled.
Code:
/cast Mill
/use Adder's Tongue
/use Icethorn
Code:
/cast Prospect
/use Saronite Ore
Open up your G-Keys profiler. Choose a free slot, click assign macro and then edit. Pictured below is what my milling macro looks like.
Once you've made the macro, remembering to add a bit of delay to the timer to compensate for server latency, you need to close the window, click on your chosen key again and open repeat options. Set this to toggle. This means the macro will continue to repeat infinitely untill you press the key again. Then just paste the macro in game and set it to a key (in this case it's '2') and make sure auto loot is set to on.
Crafting
The other main use of my G15 macros besides prospecting and milling is crafting. Specifically, glyphs. As a scribe who (attempts to) dominate the market, I make a rediculous amount of glyphs, easily 1000 in some sessions. I really don't want to click that button that many times. This one requires a slightly different approach, as you can't continue crafting using a button press. For this you need a mouse click. I also use the addon Skillet. Basically, I'm crafting anywhere between 1 and 7 of each glyph at a time, depending on how many my mods detect my alts are holding. You could just have a mouseclick for the duration of 7 glyphs, but that means there'd be a big delay if you only had to craft a few of each where the macro would be idle. To solve this you can just have it spam click, I have mine set to every 300 milliseconds but that's overkill, as long as it's frequent it works quite well. Note I havn't tested this with any other crafting addons, but it works very well with Skillet.
Here's what it looks like in game. With the mouse positioned over the process button you just press your chosen macro key and it's good to go.
The only issue with these macros is that wow has to be the active window. However, there's nothing stopping you from having a VLC window open and watching a show or movie while the edge of your WoW (and skillet frame) shows at the edge of your monitor. Or you could just go afk.
Regarding legality, obviously this is technically a bot because it automates user actions and is probably bannable. That said, I've been using these macros for more than a year and have never had any problems with GMs.
~Enjoy!
