FOURTH: Cool Stuffs, Must-Have Creations For Any Engineer
a) GNOMISH CLOAKING DEVICE
This little cloak is really nice on pvp servers. Unlike other abilities such as Stealth, the Gnomish Cloaking Device has no impact on your movement speed. This coupled with an ability such as sprint means that you can escape almost any situation. Flame Warden quests anyone? Besides avoiding getting ganked by a higher level player, this cloak is also very useful for those times where you want to dodge a bunch of annoying mobs guarding a quest item, or a treasure chest. Not bad for duels either provided that you haven’t been targeting prior to going invisible. And especially useful in the pursuit of women, without them pursuing you, if you get my meaning. In order to get this pretty little trinket you need:
Schematic: Gnomish Cloaking Device
Unfortunately, it has an abysmal drop rate… and you must venture once more into Gnomeregan, Dun Morogh, to get it. The drop rate is currently 0.5% off of Mekgineer Thermaplugg. If there is some manner of saving grace, however, it is that Mekgineer Thermaplugg drops multiple different schematics, meaning your run will not be a total loss. Don't forget, however, the trinket is BoE, meaning it can be bought and sold for a nice profit.
Here is a map:

b) ROCKET BOOTS
We have a few different options for these boots.
Rocket Boots Xtreme (leather)
Rocket Boots Xtreme Lite (cloth)
Nitro Boots (tinker)
The concept is essentially the same for all of the boots, right click them to give you a huge speed boost (The Rocket Boots Xtreme are 300%, the Nitro Boots are 150%) for a few seconds. Extraordinarily useful in many circumstances. Even useful in some boss fights when you need to run somewhere really quick, or useful in Dalaran after you've been caught AFK-staring at a night elf for the past 5 minutes.
For Rocket Boots Xtreme
The Schematic: Rocket Boots Xtreme has a very small drop rate off Mekgineer Steamrigger in The Steamvault (~2%).

=Mats for this:
=9 Cobalt Bar
=3 Crystallized Water
6 Handful of Cobalt Bolts
=Mats for this:
=~4 Cobalt Bar
c) GNOMSIH MIND CONTROL CAP
This headpiece is very entertaining. Your target becomes like a hunter pet. You have the attack/follow/stay and the aggressive/defensive/passive buttons. If you control an NPC you also get buttons for their abilities (monsters generally tend to have one or two, and bosses may have five but they are generally immune to the effects of this helm). When you mind control players you only get the behavior buttons. The crazy blizzard mind control AI takes over, and it generally uses the abilities with the longest cooldowns so it's good for sabotage. Side effect: You have a chance to actually be mind-controlled by the person that you tried to mind control in the first place. It is taught by any gnome engineering trainer.
Materials:
10 Mithril Bar
4 Truesilver Bar
1 Gold Power Core
=Mats for this:
=1 Gold Bar
2 Star Ruby
4 Mageweave cloth
d) DEEPDIVE HELMET
One of the few engineering items that actually does what it says it will do 100% of the deep is this helmet. Simply equip it and you can breathe underwater. Useful for those who don't want to run gnomeregan for that staff, or who don't want to dole out gold on underwater breathing potions. Or simply anybody who wants to look like the big daddys from Bioshock. my favorite thing to do with this is play the passive aggressive hunter game: go to the coast where you can see Alliance fishing and put hunters mark on them from a distance... good times. Also if you were this is a Tauren you'll look an idiot.
The Schematic: Deepdive Helmet can be bought from Jubie Gadgetspring in Azshara at a limited supply for 36 silver.
Materials:
8 Mithril Bar
1 Mithril Casing
=Mats for this:
=3 Mithril Bar
1 Truesilver Bar
4 Tigerseye
4 Malachite
e) SHRINK RAY
The irony of this piece of equipment is just obscene... making gnomes smaller... It is, however, an incredibly fun trinket to use. You can actually shrink all the raid bosses (up till Ragnaros at least), even Onyxia! You do NOT have to be a gnomish engineer to use one. Only to make it, if you are goblin engineer you can farm the mats and have a gnomish engineer make it for you. It is learned from any Gnomish Engineering trainer.
Materials:Possible effects from WoWWiki:
[li]Make the user bigger (attack power +250)
[li]Make the user smaller (attack power -250)
[li]Make the target bigger (same effect as above)
[li]Make the user's entire party bigger
[li]Make the user's entire party smaller
[li]Make every attacking enemy bigger
[li]Make every attacking enemy smaller
[li]Give shield-wielding enemies "Improved Blocking" for 30 seconds (this shows no visible effect other than target is hit by the ray)
1 Mithril Tube
=Mats for this:
=3 Mithril Bar
1 Unstable Trigger
=Mats for this:
=1 Mithril Bar
=1 Mageweave Cloth
=1 Solid Blasting Powder
==Mats for this:
==2 Solid Stone
4 Mithril bar
4 Flask of Mojo
2 Jade
f) Zapthrottle Mote Extractor
This little tool is most likely how you will be making money with engineering. It's the gathering equivalent for the engineering profession. Whilst this device is in your bag you will get yellow dots on your minimap at the location of a gas cloud (these can be found in outland and northrend). Approach the cloud and right click on the item to harvest it. You will be rewarded with motes or eternals depending on the cloud in question.
To get this you need to go visit K. Lee Smallfry in Telredor Zangarmarsh (Alliance) or Mack Diver in Zabra'jin Zangarmarsh. They will give you:
The Zapthrottle Mote Extractor!
You need to collect 15 Steam Pump Parts
Map:
Turn it back in and you will get the Schematic.
Materials:
2 Fel Iron Casing
=Mats for this:
=6 Fel Iron Bar
2 Handful of Fel Iron Bolts
=Mats for this:
=2 Fel Iron Bar
4 Primal Life
1 Delicate Arcanite Converter
=Schematic sold by Xizzer Fizzbolt in Winterspring
=Mats for this:
=1 Arcanite Bar
=1 Ironweb Spider Silk
g) PORTABLE MAILBOX
This, as the title says, is a portable mail box. Down-side is its one hour cooldown however I use this constantly. It's incredibly useful for farmers, in instances, and just generally anywhere. It also does work 100% of the time unlike other creations. Learned from your master engineering trainer. The materials are also incredibly easy to get for something so useful.
Materials:
8 Saronite Bar
8 Eternal Air
h) PORTABLE WORMHOLE
Another one of my absolute favorite engineering items. This item allows you to teleport anywhere across Northrend. A flying mount or parachute is highly recommended as you are sometimes teleported very high up in the air. Taught by any master engineering trainer. Once again very simple mats for such an incredibly useful device.
From Wowhead:
You can train this at any engineering trainer in Northrend.
when you use it, it creates a portal. (It will become soulbound when you use it)
10 sec casting time.
Portal stays for 1min.
4 hour cooldown and can be used again.
You can end up in the following zones and places:
Borean Tundra Map
53.15 - On a small rock. Safe spot (I think this is removed, as I haven't gotten this for quite a while)
51.44 - High in the air above the lake. Safe spot
Howling Fjord Map
58,47 - On a ledge on top of Utgarde Keep. Need parachute/flying mount to get down.
Sholazar Basin Map
34,39 - On a ledge on the pillar. Need parachute/flying mount to get down.
Icecrown Map
65,31 - On a mountainside. Can get down by taking small falls.
Storm peaks Map
43,25 - Right above the Meeting Stone for Ulduar. Safe spot
Materials:
8 Titanium Bar
2 Eternal Shadow
2 Eternal Water
2 Eternal Fire
2 Eternal Air
i) GNOMISH ARMY KNIFE
This little beauty is a must have if you are a gatherer of any sort. As the name indicated it doubles as a Gyromatic Micro-Adjuster, Arclight Spanner, Flint and Tinder, Blacksmithing Hammer, Mining Pick, and a Skinning Knife. It says that if you are grand-master engineer you can also shock a dead player back to life. Note "attempt". They really mean it it hardly ever works, 90% of the time you'll make yourself explode. Taught at any master engineering trainer
Materials:
10 Saronite Bar
1 Skinning Knife
1 Mining Pick
1 Blacksmithing Hammer
j) JUMPER CABLES
These jumper cables have a far-higher success rate than the gnomish army knife (~50%) and can be a real life saver if everyone in your group but you dies and it's a long instance. The Schematic: Goblin Jumper Cables XL drops off Plugger Spazzring in Blackrock Depths (~16% drop rate).
Map (he is next to Phalanx):
Materials:
2 Thorium Widget
=Mats for this:
=6 Thorium Bar
=2 Runecloth
2 Truesilver Transformer
=Mats for this:
=4 Truesilver Bar
=4 Elemental Earth
=2 Elemental Air
2 Fused Wiring
=Mats for this:
=3 Delicate Copper Wire
==Mats for this:
==6 Copper Bar
=2 Essence of Fire
2 Ironweb Spider Silk
2 Star Ruby
k) TURBO -CHARGED FLYING MACHINE
Let's face it, every man's dream is to fly a chopper. Nothing screams testosterone like the blades of a helicopter spinning at 100 RPM slicing through both the air and any unfortunate less-testosterone filled creations that hamper its movement. This mount, unlike Mechgineer's Chopper, is engineer exclusive. Taught by Jonathan Garrett and Niobe Whizzlespark in Shadowmoon Valley
Materials:
4 Adamantite Frame
=Mats for this:
=16 Admantite Bar
=4 Primal Earth
8 Khorium Power Core
=Mats for this:
=24 Khorium Bar
=8 Primal Fire
8 Felsteel Stabilizer
=Mats for this:
=16 Felsteel Bar
1 Hula Girl Doll
=Sold by Griftah in Shattrath City for 100g
l) PARACHUTE
This is perhaps my favorite as far as laziness goes. Activate your rocket boots, jump off a ledge, apply your parachute, and you will keep traveling at that speed until you hit the ground. Also incredibly useful if you happen to be an idiot and accidentally dismount in mid-air. There is the actual cloak, as well as tinker items. I will only cover the actual cloak. The tinker items are available through your grand-master engineering trainer
-"I believe I can flyyyyy...."
*Jumps off cliff*
- "Oh $!¤# wrong cloak !"
*Splat*
The Schematic: Parachute Cloak is actually a very low world drop, your best luck is farming mobs in Dustwallow Marsh, Arathi Highlands, and Feralas
Materials:
4 Bolt of Mageweave
2 Shadow Silk
1 Unstable Trigger
=Mats for this:
=1 Mithril Bar
=1 Mageweave Cloth
=1 Solid Blasting Powder
==Mats for this:
==2 Solid Stone
4 Solid Blasting Powder (why in the !$@& would you need explosives in a PARACHUTE)
=Mats for this:
=8 Solid Stone
