O boy......
amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing
You will lose a lot of dps if you use 2 parts tier 9 insted of tier 10.
2.5% crit wont make up for the other stats you lose.

4t10>2t9 mkayy
He's just saying make t9 proc and then put t10 on.
Maybe you could explain a bit better then, because 99% of the people who reads your thread won't understand it.

Really? Anyone who has a mage(and thusly can use this) should already know and understand that Molten Armor will not update its buff unless recast aka:
-I have my full spirit gear on and cast Molten Armor. It gives me, say, 10% bonus crit
-I equip my PvP armor and unless I recast Molten Armor the 10% crit from other gear stays unless I recast it, dropping the effect to what my own armor would give (~2-3%).
In short =
-Equip high spirit gear. (preferably with 2pt9 since it increases the effect of Molten Armor by itself)
-Cast Molten Armor.
-Equip other gear without recasting Molten Armor.
-Profit
That's not what I ment, if you take a look how he wrote it he said gear 2t9 use Molten Armor gear t10 (if have) PROFIT: +2.5% crit from air.
You don't think he could have wrote that a bit better?
Like "Hello, if you have two tier 9 pieces and buff yourself with molten armor and then equip your normal gear you will still get the crit % bonus from the tier set bonus."
No offense but he should spend more time when writing a guide next time rather then a 10 seconds text.

^_^ Freefall has it right.
Also have you tested to make sure that your buff just doesnt update but your stats do change.
This is just like if you spec into a buff etc. and buff it, it will show the untalented buff because buffs often times dont update. So this could be an example of it not updating but internally your stats are changing.
Hmm, well nice find, didn't know this. BUt I agree with the others, don't type 10 second text and pull it of as a 'guide'
