Hi, I'm Athrin Onu, a Mac user and software developer. As an avid Mac user, I thought I would drop in to say that developing programs for the Mac isn't as complex as some people would assume. The best part is that it's written in Basic with cross-compatability with VB, and works on all platforms without having to change the source (even Linux)!
The program I'm talking about is called RealBASIC - a multi-platform software development framework for cross-compatability between almost all operating systems.
Why RealBASIC?Ooh, looky at that price. GASP! What kind of poster would I be if I didn't supply a nice download and crack too?
- Multi-platform: Works with Macs (Universal Binaries), Windows, and even Linux (GTK 2.0+).
- Simple: It's BASIC. Seriously. If you know how to use Visual Basic, RealBASIC is just all that much more awesome.
- Convenient: DLLs are a real pain in the ass. RealBASIC uses none. Msinet.ocx? What is this ******ry? It's not necesarry, so screw you Microsoft.
- Transitional: Use Visual Basic? Check out the awesomeness that is the VB Project Converter on this page.
Software crack removed for copyright reasons (sorry all) - Flying Piggy
Sorry, Windows users - my download is for Mac users only. I know that there's plenty of Windows cracks on other software sites though
Here's a quick example of how the multi-platform processing works. This tutorial will teach you how to make an application that runs 2 instances of WoW from the command line:All done!
- Make a new application by opening RealBASIC. Call it whatever you want.
- Double-click "Window1" and it will take you to the default window. Drag a PushButton element into the window, change the button's caption to whatever (along with the window's)
- Double-click the button to be taken to the PushButton's default actions for being clicked
- Now, to do some coding!
In this example, it shows that cmd is a string that contains the data that tells the application how to handle the execution. sh and sh2 are shells that, when executed, open either the Terminal or the Command Prompt to be run. #If TargetMacOS will run the first command if the user is running Mac OS X, and the second command will run the other command if the user is running anything else (In this case, Windows). sh.Execute cmd and sh2.Execute cmd run the command twice, thus opening two instances of World of Warcraft under either operating system.
Simple!- Go under Project > Build Settings and check Mac OS X and Windows, then click Build. MyApplication.app and MyApplication.exe will appear on your desktop.
The Language Reference gives a LOT of information on different commands. Press Command+? to use it.
Enjoy
