    [Help!] Scamming trouble!

    Hello there everyone.

2 months ago I sold my rogue to some guy for 800 euros, and last week, I took it back (I am the original owner, so I sent my passport ID to Blizzard, and then they gave it back to me) because he was very inactive (he didn't level it, or get it any newer gear).
Then abit later that sent me an e-mail saying "I have contacted the police, and I will sue you if you don't give me my account back - bla bla bla".

I spoke to some friends, and with Verye (The WoW Lawyer), and they said that he was probably bluffing and I shouldn't give it back and so on.

So I get a new e-mail from him today saying:
"You still have not given me my property back! Do that until Sunday noon or I'll drag you in front of the court. As the credit card of your mother was used to authorize payment, it will not only be you accused by me, but it will be your mother also.

And just to add something: you very well knew that you were stealing from me. You couldn't know that I was level 70 without stealing the account BEFORE and looking it up. Then you saw that it is an actively paid account and you still logged in the rogue and left my guild. You will not get away with your pity attempt of an excuse.

You have time until Sunday noon."

So what should I do now, is he bluffing so I should keep the account and leave him behind?
    - Or is he for real, and I should give it back without getting into any troubles?

    Thanks in advance,
    Scarecr0w.

Really, I suggest you don't do tradings..

Trading isn't allowed, so Blizzard would ban your account then. Also, I don't know the Euro to USD ratio, but 800 euros does sound like a decent chunk of change.. But, if he is this serious, I say ask him, who's your lawyer? The lawyers/judge/juries will laugh at you because you're filing a lawsuit over a Video game, and you both broke the rules by trading accounts, so yeah...

I'm not familiar with European legal things, but I kind of doubt he was serious. Did you get the feeling it was a kid or an adult when you were trading with them? If its just a kid, theres no way they're serious. If its an adult, then you might be in for some trouble. However, its common knowledge that hiring a lawyer and the accosiated legal fees are pretty high, atleast in the US. Do you think the account is worth that much to him? Also, you've got the embarrassment factor on your side, because who really has the balls to go to court over a video game?

I realize that might be a bit jumbled, but what I'm basically saying is that its probably a fake threat. But you should still transfer it to a new account / ban the old one and act like you're giving it back to him. Less chance of him doing a successful recall on you.

Give it back to him, period.

Gaming is not worth legal issues. If he is serious, then you are in SERIOUS trouble.

Well, since you have spoken to Verye about this, and he said that he is bluffing, then it's like a +1 for He's not going to sue you.
But on the other hand, He is Over 18 he might be serious about all of this, he might not be bluffing. +1 for He might.
Third, It is reasonable that he would go to court, because first, he has your mothers' CC, second, he paid 800 Euros for that, that's a lot of money. Third, it's kind of like stealing, but this time, it's worth a lot of money.

Civil courts hear cases like this all the time. They're not going to laugh at him just because they broke a game rule. This is real life, not a game.

Of course, he still may not have a case, but not because some video game's Terms of Use (note, Terms of Use, not End User License Agreement...the Terms of Use applies to in-game things pretty much) says that sharing/trading/buying/selling accounts is not allowed by Blizzard. The time spent on the WoW account, although it's not a tangible item, can be found to have value legally, since obviously it DOES have value. People buy and sell WoW accounts for large amounts of money every day.

If he can prove that he paid for something that had value, and then that thing was proven to be taken away and yet the money was kept, then it's possible he may have a lawsuit case.

As I said over MSN, just talk to a lawyer in your country. He'll give you the best advice.

Thanks for all your replies so far - anyone who have tried something like it? And you know that the deadline is by Sunday noon.
But am I able to wait till it get official? Wouldn't I get warned by a lawyer in a letter/e-mail first?
