Latest Android update removes spoof capability

I saw a while ago the latest Android update disables spoofing capability - and today my phone was updated when my little boy was playing with it. Has anyone managed to uninstall the update and regain the ability to spoof or know a way around the update to get gps spoofing to work?

Various devices on various versions of various swiss cheese'd frontend style distros make it hard to apply such a statement..

Only Nexus devices really get to refer to themselves as "Android" imho :-D
