Ip tracking

now i know how to trace an ip froma forum postor email evenfaceboo but something im having problem is with the pc.. now an isp can be traced but lets say u find an area where somebody has not put a password on the wireless network aand you send an e-mail,could your pc leave something behind that it could trace it back to you?

reason im asking is im having trouble tracing an e-mail who i now hacked into my hotmail account... im at a bit of a roadblock... in australia e-mail acceses is classed as fruad..but the police dont want to investigate with out further information.. if somebody could help with this i would love it..

I personally don't know, but do realize that search bots being the main source of views(probable), random guests who don't know and various regular members... all of which who likely don't know.

It's a select subject that few here truly care about.
