Not necessarily. The limited supply and increasing difficulty of blocks mined is also a driver of its relative price.

Doesnt mean money cant be made off of it.

With the move of Lunyr, investing in Ethereum seems to be extremely profitable. Also Storj moved over to Eth's Blockchain recently.

ETH is meant for applications, you know smart contracts? That's why infinite supply is a thing. It's just another payment layer.
This is not something you're supposed to hold. Any price increase is just a bubble essentially, as more ETH enters the market the less price it will have.

You're only supposed to buy yourself in, complete a contract and then cash out. Rinse repeat.

Smart Contracts are nice. Definitely the appeal of ETH, if not, the reason it exists.

Well, bud I am unsure how to respond, as I already made some nice money with this previous burst of price (I bought 15 at the price of $13 long ago (ETH as of this edit: $50.90)). Also, the price is never directly related to the value. Much like stocks, the price also varies by projected future of <whatever you're investing in>, hence an investment. This bubble can make us some money. Also, with an extreme bull market, the price is also expected to rise. That could mean some serious money.

While you are correct, there is still money to be made. Even if the price dies, as with all self-stabilizing currencies (mainly due to their demand not to fail) just buy more. Then during the next bubble, reap the benefits.

This has both speculative and long-term applications.

Y'know, people used to say the exact same thing for Bitcoin, and if I had only bought Bitcoin at 9, 25, 125, 250 (all the near-stable prices after bursts, in order, but limited to <$300) I would have made serious money.

    EDIT:
But also, with halvenings, relative increasing difficulty, and increased applications, the price remains to increase. Notice how Bitcoin, which still has new Bitcoin being "minted," has hovered in triple digits for a long time now. Recently, even quadruple digits.

Should've taken the man's word. ETH has risen up a lot after the last post. Peaking at almost 400 US dollars and judging by the edit of that last comment, it was 50 US dollars at 03-27. I personally made a small profit off it, but nothing too much. I know a dude who bought 200 ETH when it came out, apparently 1 EUR per 1 ETH was the price according to him. You can do the math how much he has now.

I've invested and had nice profits from Eth, BitCoin and Ripple(XRP), but I've sold out on everything as I think the risk is too high currently.
