    Warhammer lagging problems

    Hey, i just got a brand new computer vista 64bit, 2.50GBs RAM, 3.10GHz, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core Processor 6000+, and a GeForce 8200 graphics card. Seem like a pretty decent computer to me. I always put all the setting on low but it doesnt help that much. While i play WAR its not so much laggy as it is choppy, from just plain walking during questing and simple non RvR content it just chops right up. So my question is whats wrong with my comp? whats the major reason for the lagging? What would be the best and cheapest (if possible) upgrade i could get to hopefully stop the lagging all together or atleast improve it quite a bit more. I would like to play on full graphics. Warhammer is an amazing game completely owns WoW but Mythic isnt gonna do very good with their game if everyone who plays needs a top notch computer pimped with all the best shit.

    If anyone wants a trial, just PM me and ill get you hooked up with that.

    Thanks for your help.

    hmm my game runs SUPERB on highest settings.

    I have

    XP Professional 64bit
    3.25GBs RAM
    2.2GHz Dual Core
    nVidia 9500GT 1GB

    runs smooth as butter

    your problem is odd though, those specs are amazing.

    Are your drivers up to date ?
    Is your standard internet going slow ? (eg google)

    All i can think of, not that good with stuff like that...sorry

    hmm, try check the net also, and are you using a router, do you got a net cable and how many mbit are your net on? If its low and its not connected with a cable, it can give you major lagging problems - just like it was with me ;>

    No matter what machine you have, if you go RvR you better set everthing to OFF and switch to the lowest resolution possible.

    Its most likely your video card if your net is pretty fast (meaning 1.5mbs-20mbs+), I believe your pc may have a pci express slot for a video card, check with your nearest PC upgrade shop and ask for a high end video card that you can afford (I have a Radeon X1650 512MB and it runs pretty smooth). So yeah, specs and all on your pc is nice, but mainly lag comes from net and slow vid cards.

    It is your video card. 8200=Not very good for playing that game. I have a 8400, can only play on medium settings.

    8200 = not good
    8400 = still not good
    8500 = playable
    8600 = good

    but buy 9 series...like a 9500, that is cheap now and it has a good performance
    my friend uses 9500 and run at max graphics

    i run at max also without lag in rvr, but i use 1gb ram, athlon x2 6000+ dual, and 9800GTX+

    OneHitBR, the 9 series is IDENTICAL to the 8 series, in that
    8200=No equivalent
    8400=9200
    8500=9400
    etc, etc.
    A 9500 is almost identical in performance to a 8600. The performance difference is less than 3%.

    In addition, I have no idea why you are investing in a 9800 GTX when you have only 1 gig of RAM. Most modern games use up that much RAM.

    There use to be a addon called buffthrottle that helped alot of people increase there ingame performace but with the changes it shouldn't be needed anymore.

    I also heard Buffthrottle was not needed anymore after a certain patch. I just think the game isn't really optimized all that great. I have heard people with all types of machines having problems with this game, so I doubt it is on the users' end...at least not all of the performance issues that currently plague the game.
