Thief hood on any character (Specialized Equipment)

As you know some of the classes have specialized gear, ie the thief with a ninja mask or hood. You can take these off a new character and put them into an old character. Or you can even have rangers running around with hoods, or thieves running around with engy glasses.

First you must have a transmutation stone. Easy to find they come from map completions or black lion chests or market.

1.) Make a new thief with hood.
2.) Buy a mask on current character
5.) Now you can transmute the mask into hood.
6.) Put the new transmuted hood into bank
7.) Go into your current thief and then take out the transmuted hood.
8.) Now you can transmute the hood with any mask

Note: It will say it's soulbound but you can still move it to another bank no problem. I have my engineer running a hood! Enjoy!

As far as I know this only works between classes of the same armor type, and I think you need to level 18 to transmute.

Yeah but this game has never allowed people to swap armor sets. xmuting requires you to use same types, and also you do not have to be 18 did it at 2 on my thief

    I can't test this:
    1. Start engineer with backpack, get lvl 2.
    2. buy guild back item from Guild Armorer merchant.
    3. transmute the two items and transfer to any other character (if possible).

It costs 1gold and you may end up wasting it AND your guild has to have purchased the merchant with influence.

Is this really an "exploit"? I though it was common knowledge.

And yes, same armor class only.

In inventory, your transmuted item will still say "Soulbound", and you might not be able to equip it.
Solution: equip it from [H]ero window instead.

This also used to work with ANY soulbound item, unfortunately, I'm running into some problems doing it now. The trick is to transmute the soulbound item into a white or blue, which isn't soulbound, thus making it not soulbound. They might have fixed it, but I need some confirmation from some people. I was unaware it was fixed until today, but I'm having trouble doing it. Anyone know anything?

Still works. I just spent an hour or so getting every starting piece on each available character (heavy to heavy, medium to medium, light to light) minus the backpack. Just in case they patch the soulbound thing, I put each "set" in the character's bags. Nuked quite a few transmutation stones, but it is so worth it so long as anet doesn't force the removal of said items.

Confirmed it is still working. I don't know what my prior issue was, but the problem has been resolved. Carry on.

Would it be possible to do this with the Order sets (vigil, whispers, prior). Could you transmute their armor to a junk white, put it in your bank and then have someone else pick it up and transmute it to their gear?

From what i know it has to be the same class of armor, and rarity though i`m not 100% certain i think your method is possible as the same theory applies.
