    Re: linux

It's a difficult question to answer. It's like asking why one would purchase a mac despite glaring price differences. It's just personal preference and needs. For example, I have my main windows box for gaming, a gentoo linux box running as my fileserver and a G5 powermac for AV editing.

Why don't you try out Wubi and see for yourself? It's designed to be installed and installed like a windows app so even an idiot like me could try it out.

    Wubi - http://www.cutlersoftware.com/ubuntu...-US/index.html

    Re: linux

Ubuntu (Gnome), Kubuntu (KDE), OPENsuse (KDE or Gnome?), Mandrake (not sure, from some screeens it looks like KDE). Those are a few distros that are good for beginners.

    Oh, also

EDIT: Kind of a bad video, they don't show all of what you can really do. Just search for beryl.

EDIT 2: And the good thing about Ubuntu is is that it is a liveCD and installer, so you can do whatever on the liveCD while you install. Plus the liveCD has Gparted on it (partitioning program) which comes in really handy.
